It is possible your ipod has a bad motherboard. try putting your ipod into disk mode to restore it. Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons until you see the Apple appear. Immediately move your fingers to the center and play/pause button and hold until you see a check mark. you ipod should mount to itunes. Restore it and Reload your music.

Ipod's USB cable points to itunes icon on Ipod's screen and won't turn on. what can i do?

Hi tifftiffpup...
The ipod is requesting that you hook it up to Itunes...maybe for updates.
If nothing happens after you hook the ipod to itunes then you may have to do a restore.
You can restore you ipod but it will wipe all songs, video, messages, pictures, etc completely off the ipod...sometimes you have no choice but to do that and you have to reload everything back on...
Here is how you do a restore incase you do not know:

1...Make sure you have an Internet connection, you may need to download new updated versions of the iTunes or iPod Software.
2...Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
3...Open iTunes.
Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB cable that came with your iPod.
4...After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
5...Select your iPod in the Source panel.
You will see some information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
6...Click Restore.
7...A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun.
When this stage is done, iTunes will show one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
8...Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter this typically applies to older iPod models.
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore this typically applies newer iPod models.
9...During part two of the restoreing process, the iPod will display an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display.
NOTE: It is very important that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage of the restore.
10...After the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear.
It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences.
Please take time to rate me.

Forgot unlock code

  1. Step 1
  2. Connect your iPod Touch to the computer you usually sync it with. When you disconnect your iPod, it should now be unlocked.
  3. Step 2 If Step 1 does not work, you have to restore your iPod Touch. Be advised that restoring your iPod Touch returns it to the original factory settings. Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes before proceeding.
  4. Step 3 In the left navigation panel in iTunes, select your iPod under the "Devices" section. Click the "Summary" tab and select "Restore."
  5. Step 4 When iTunes prompts you about backing up your data, click "Back Up." In the following window, click "Restore."
  6. Step 5 After the restore process completes, you will see the Apple logo on the screen of your iPod. Leave your iPod connected to your computer until it shows up again on the iTunes navigation panel.

Why does my Ipod touch show a USB cord point to an Itunes smybol?

This means that your unit needs to be restored. Hook your unit up to itunes and restore the unit. Restoring the itouch does take some time to restore. You will lose all data on the unit, so hopefully you have all your music saved in itunes. If you were in the process of restoring the unit, just hook it back up to itunes and let it finish. If the unit is still having trouble after a restore, it could be a bad system board. Contact Apple and see if your unit is still under warranty with this site: https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

Your serial number can be found on the back of the unit toward the bottom.
