Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Monitor Flicker for awhile and then settles down

The problem is in the power supply/inverter board, this is usually caused by bad capacitors that in most cases have slight bulge at the top causing it to flicker and eventually shutdown. The only option is have them replaced.

Had my monitor for four years, great performance

jlallen54, When lcd panel goes to a dark condition please shine a bright flashlight 1 inch from screen an tell me if screen data is still displayed during this "blackout" condition. It might be just a single (1) poor and now thermally intermittant solder connection on the printed circuit board inside the monitor. Do some reading first and then you will understand the problem that your monitor has. 12fixlouie

Monitor flickering

Monitor flickering can be one or several problems.
Depending upon the age of the unit and value, you should decide weather to repair it or replace it.!
More than likely, it is a problem in your power supply.
The capacitors in the supply will leak and most often crown.
If when you start unit after sitting for a while, it shows good and then after a few minutes it starts flickering, you can bet it is one or several capacitors in the supply.
This monitor is a 17 inch and not really worth the time and investment to repair, unless you have the technical skills to remove and replace electronic components.

It recently started flickering when I turn it on. It did this for several minutes before displaying normally. Then it wouldn't display anything at all until I turned it on and off several times. Then it...

duffy325, Don't mess with it!!! Get SAMSUNG to give you a new or REFURBISHED unit t0 replace your BAD unit. Your unit is behaving like I would expect a 3-5 year old unit. It's got a power supply problem, not a front panel switch gone bad problem. FYI also visit YOUTUBE for the longer video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" and "LCD monitor repair" to find out some common KNOWN failure mechanisims why they fail!! You will be amazed! With your unit's behavior I suspect a "flakly backlight or SMPS/INVERTER" problem. bye for now. If this was of some help, do rate this response on fixya. 12fixlouie

Green light flickering & Sunset red screen display.

You've got components that have gone bad, probably from age and the normal heat inside a CRT monitor case.

I hate to say it, but it's really not worth fixing. You can usually find a used but working 17" monitor for under 20 bucks.

At reboot the screen would flash on and off, finally settling on.Good resolution...normal,
This worsened and finally a black screen.
I measured the ps output, unloaded, and it measures 19 volts...with a little pulsation. Is there a repair manual available on site?
