Question about Kenwood Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

Installing Kenwood KDC-MP345U into a travel trailer. Trailer is pre-wired for deck. Have Orange (hot) & White (ground) from trailer converter to deck. Hooked up yellow (battery) wire from harness to orange & hooked up black (ground) from harness to white. Deck wouldn't turn on. Hooked red (ignition) from harness along with yellow to trailer orange & deck worked fine. BUT if I pull trailer into 110 power deck DOESN'T WORK. What am I doing wrong?

The power terminals from the trailer arent direct connected to the battery terminals.when you are plugged to the mains the battery is charging and disconnect [via a relay perhaps]the orange terminal from batt+.try to make anew connection from the trailers battery terminals with a new fuse separated from all trailers circuit'use 2-2.5 mm*cables and a 15amps fuse.connect the yellow and red to+batt and black to- batt.

Check power to my trailer brake

12 volt test light or amp gauge. Trailer brakes use 2 wires... 1 ground and 1 hot. The hot has varied amps to apply according to the controller. 12 volt test light works great. use the white (typical) as your ground and the blue (typical) as your hot. Apply brakes. Light should get brighter as the controller is turned up and dimmer as it is turned down. I hope this helps.
