Hi,
How old is this TV and did you replaced its lamp in last 2-3 years?
If lamp has not been replaced so far then its time to replace lamp in tv to get bright picture in tv.
Lamp in dlp tv has limited life span like 3000 working hours and after that it does not produce enough light to present picture of light engine on front screen and looks like darker image. Existing lamp in tv got weak and need to be replaced.
Required lamp is available with Amazon.com for $140 and lamp replacement procedure is easy and would be written in user manual.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

the site mis identified the JVC set as 52 G, it is 56G. I replaced the lamp two weeks ago thinking that the lano\p was dying, hence the dark picture, it did not work. I turned up the brightness and the contrast , no dice. I guess something else is wrong. Thank you for your imput, I just hope that is possible to save this set.

OK, lamp is common for 52 or 56 inch tv.
Since lamp is recently replaced so problem sounds with light engine and it is costly part approx $800 or so. Please call local tv repair shop to help you out in light engine replacement.
    Thanks.

It could be dust and or lint in the tv. The bulb has a fan to cool it and if it is plugged with lint can cause the bulb to overheat and fail. Lint or dust that gets on the bulb can also cause premature failure. Remove bulb and lean fan and intake screen thoroughly and check to make sure fan is operating. Then install new bulb. Hope this helps.

JVC HD-56G886 tuner stopped working

My (unfortunate) guess would be the Tuner received a static discharge when you were changing the antennas... this time of the year is bad for static - if you're in a "Winter" climate.

Receivers have a very sensitive FET or MMIC amplifier right inside from the antenna connection to make it better for picking up distant stations.

However, this same "sensitive" amplifier is also prone to being destroyed by even a small static discharge... especially if the tuner had its power turned ON.

Sad to say, it's likely toasted... :-(
(I hope I'm wrong... but you have already tried all other possible solutions)

JVC HD DILA 56G886. replaced lamp and now it shuts down after 10

we found that it is an auto shut off system on the TV due to over heating. The lamp, if not cooled correctly shuts down. We added a mini fan in the back and it seems to work fine now.

Call your cable company, the lamp has nothing to do with the inputs, Maybe one of the connections is barely connected from moving the TV to replace the lamp.

Dark Screen

The lamps in these normally last about 3000 hours (if your really lucky). The bulb will start to loose it brightness as a matter of due course at about the halfway mark. It maybe that you are running the unit in the non economy mode that they are fading faster then normal.
The sets have a reputation for not being good with lamps though.

Have a look at the lamp though, make sure it has been off for at least an hour to let it properly cool and check for dust that has settled on it. Also if you wipe the lamp, make sure it is with a dry cloth, or allow plenty of time for any moisture to completly dry before turning it on if you use a damp cloth.

Images go suddenly darker

Turn off the the OPC feature in the Menu. If that doesnt help, what youre seeing is most likely the Advanced Dynamic Contrast going to work. In layman's terms, it automatically adjusts the contrast depending on the video signal it is receiving. If you want to disable this, change the AV settings to "User" (button underneath the bottom door on the sharp remote)
