If this is a new unit, return it for an exchange. There is a problem with the output amp section. This should be under warranty, request an exchange rather than a repair.

Hi, I have Philips HTS 3181, While running Audio CD, power suddenly went off and power came back...DVD Drive is not opening, please help

Hello, there is a chance that the brain(microprocessor) is confused and needs to be reset.Unplug the power to the unit for approximately 30 minutes and then plug it back in.Hopefully this resets the unit and it will respond to the open request.

Powers up with no sound then powers down, red light comes back on in 15 minutes philips hts3565d/37 removed all wires and powered up at an other outlet and same results

Unconnect all wires, turn it off, and then reboot. This solves that problem about 90% of the time. If this doesn't work you probably have a much more serious problem.

No Power From My Reciever

Mook_trakzz, your device is most likely roasted and ready or scrap. Sorry.

Guest, check if the cables are connected properly, specially the cable between the device and the sub is quite easily shifted thus losing your sound.

timtlc, seems you have had some powerfailure during that night, you can try to remove the powercable for at least 15 seconds, that should reset the device.

to all, information from Philips on this device:
  • Press the STANDBY ON button on the front of the DVD system to turn on the power.
If the device powers on at the unit and not the remote, the unit may have been turned off with TV selected as the source on the remote. The standby button on the remote will operate most Philips TV’s when TV is selected as the source. Change the source to disc or any other source than TV on the remote.
  • To completely reset the player, unplug the AC cord from the AC outlet for 15 seconds.

WIRE ELIMNATION

For the TV:
There are a few possibilities.
1)You can connect a red and white AV cable (or the red and white portion of a red, white and yellow cable) from the TV Audio OUTPUT to the "Audio In/TV" portion of the HTS (NOTE: Many TV's do not have an Audio OUTPUT).
2)You can connect a red and white AV cable (or the red and white portion of a red, white and yellow cable) from the Audio OUTPUT of your cable or satellite box to the "Audio In/TV" portion of the HTS.
Note: Using a red and white cable may not give you sound on all 5 speakers.
3)Get a digital audio or SPDIF cable and run it from the TV, Cable or Satellite Box's Digital Audio OUT to the "DIGITAL IN" of the HTS. This will give you the best sound quality. When using this (or any of the other) type of connection, press SURR until you get sound from all 5 speakers.

For the Xbox, try hooking a red/white audio cable from the Xbox into the Audio IN/AUX on the back of the HTS, and then switching the source on the home theater to AUX.

Also, the manual can be obtained from www.usasupport.philips.com

Have you performed a "hard start". This is done by totally unplugging the unit from the wall and waiting for 15 seconds. See if that helps...accordianman
