No power. How do I replace main board?

I was house sitting for my friend and her LG refrigerator all of a sudden died. Model: LBC22520SW.
I googled for this problem and found a guy who repaired his frig that had a similar problem and it turned out to be a burnt out fuse: (
since the fuse was soldered onto the motherboard, I had to ask a techie friend to help (well, he's an over qualified techie -- actually a retired aeronautic engineer); but once we replaced the fuse, the refrigerator went back to work.
Cost of repair: $6.25 for the fuse, and $0.23 for the soldering wire (he used a high grade copper wire) vs. possible $300 for an "official" repair.

I have a Coleman model 7665 about 30 years old. The blower has started making noise and slows, then speeds up, generaly laging. What is the cause?

Hi, your problem is the bearings and electrical windings in this old motor are going out. This is caused by dust, dirt, and the age of this motor. The motor will start to over amp causing it to heat up and slow down and speed up again. The noise you are hearing is the wear on your motor bearings. It will stop completely soon, and not work at all. If you can, you may think about an upgrade as this is a very old unit. Or, you can have the motor and run capacitor replaced. About an hour labor, you would need to call around to several places for a estimate. Try and find a good company with a good reputation to do this. But yes, this is the problem. Good Luck,

Our LG is only a couple years old and was very quiet at first. It has started making a very loud groaning noise when the water is spraying. Is it a pump going out?

In Australia I have seen similar problems with some recent models of LG dishwashers. Not sure if the ones sold in the US are any different.
One common problem I have seen with LG wash pumps from dishwashers which were sold 2-4 years ago, is that the motor becomes noisy after some time. The replacement motors which I have ordered is a different one and therefore revised as the predesessor was not reliable. The replacement motor has a different mounting bracket as well.
They are fairly cheap, but to change them is very difficult. Best to get a repairer as the machine needs to be thoroughly dismantled to allow you to get to the wash pump.

It sounds like the motor is not running; it sounds like it wants to kick on, but it will make a buzzing noise and stop.

Most likely the compressor is not starting. You did not mention size or model but I am assuiming it is some where between 17.5 and 21.7 cu ft. The buzzing noise you hear is either the start relay of the compressor itself due to a locked rotor. If the unit is less than 8 years old call for service. Usally the tech / repair person will replace the start relay and Klixon thermal overload first in an attempt to see if your unit will start. That person may also have to replace the run capacitor also. If after the replacement of these relatively inexspensive parts the compressor still does not start due to an interanl failure of the compressor itself then the bottom line is a full blown compressor replacement that with the cost of the service call, labor, parts and freon can cost almost 50% of the cost of a new Refrigerator. Good luck.

Loud compressor noise from lg frig...

The sound you hear is the Freezer Fan, this problem is hard to diagnose, because the fan spins but not fast enough to circulate chilled air thru the freezer and refrigerator. The minimum labor and material cost for the repair/replacement is around $300.00. But if you chose to make the repair yourself the motor alone costs around $ But the repair is very labor because the electrical connection for this fan is at the rear of the unit

Groaning noise on GE side by side refrigerator

Usually the groaning noise is from a locked up icemaker. Remove the icemaker and defrost it with hot water. Check to make sure the unit is in good shape and not chipping. Let it dry out and then reinstall.

Groaning noise on GE side by side refrigerator

Hello Michael,
Thanks for your question, I hope I can help some. My answer is long winded but full of good info.
The noise could be as the GE guy said refrigerant (gas) noise. If it is refrigerant noise it happens as the liquid refrigerant comes out of the tiny capillary tube and enters the evaporator (cooling) coil in the freezer. Along with the liquid coming through the capillary tube there often are gas pockets. The flow of the liquid and gas pockets into the evaporator coil cause strange sounds. If the noise you are hearing is this refrigerant noise, you should only hear the noise while the compressor is running and then only for a short time (1 to 2 minutes) after the compressor shuts off.
If the noise continues after that I do not think it is a refrigerant noise.
There are times when the compressor will not be running but the fan in the freezer will be running on this model. This is normal and working properly but if the noise is present when the freezer fan is running and the noise stops when the freezer fan stops, the likely cause will be the main board located in a square panel on the rear of the refrigerator above the compressor compartment. I know that sounds crazy but the main board can cause the freezer fan motor to make some really strange noises. Eventually the board will probably fail.
One other test would be for you to listen for the compressor to turn off, then if the noise is present after the compressor turns off, you would next unplug the refrigerator from the receptacle. If the noise continues with the refrigerator unplugged it must be refrigerant noise. If it stops, I am betting on a bad main board.
I tried to locate for you information on a material that Whirlpool and Frigidaire as well as some others use as a noise deaden-er that they wrap around where the capillary tube enters the evaporator. I was not successful in locating anything. I am sorry I could not find it.
