I have a toshiba and every now and than the menu screen pops up all by its self, first i figured it was the batteries or the remote was bad, so ichecked all that and it still does it. Than i reset the tv and it went away for about an hour and came back. Ihave checked all the web sites and it shows nothing for this. PLEASE tell me how to remove it or stop it from coming up.

Re: menu screen popping up
Remove the batteries, un-screw the back cover of your remote, you'll find a circuit board take that off, clean the other side of that board (the one painted green) with a cotton slighty wet with rubbing alcohol as well as the black carbon on your remote pad, let it dry put it back together replace with a new battery, I guess this'll work

if you have a program running that is non responsive and try to shut down or restart, the computer will get stuck on the logging off screen.
Often times if a computer takes a long time to do anything, it means you need to defrag your hard drive. Manually shut down the computer (you might have been pushing the Sleep button. If you can't figure it out, just unplug it and let the battery run down.) and when you restart it, go to the My Computer or Computer option, right click on your C drive, click on properties and a window should pop up. Click on the tab that says Tools and click on the Defragmentation option. The rest should be pretty self-explanatory.If nothing works.
please try logging in as administrator in safe mode and doing a system restore.... please see Using Windows Vista System Restore :: the How-To Geek
This sounds like the front panel assembly(FPA) switches are acting up. What happens with this model is the FPA switches start to conduct just as if someone was pressing the buttons. This in effect locks up the system control or causes it to do erratic things. The way to determine if the FPA is bad is to remove it by unplugging from set. This requires front panel disasembly. Note:The remote will still work with the FPA removed so the set can be tested. Also double check that the remote is not the problem by removing it from the room or removing the batteries Let me know if you need more help or info.
Isolate the problem by removing the batteries from the remote. If the problem goes away replace the remote: "CHEAP" . If the problem does not go away, the problem is in the TV, repair the TV "EXPENSIVE" !
I would disregard the pop up as in most cases the batteries are still good. I'd use the mouse till it stopped functioning. Why it does that I haven't figured out yet. I beleive a value has to be changed in the Registry. If I figure it out I will let you know. Bud
