How to take Back off of Dell Laptop - Dell Studio 15 Laptop

You should not attempt this unless you have experience. You do not take the back off a laptop. You disassemble the entire laptop to remove the base cover. What are you trying to do? I gave you the link to the service manual, but caution you about taking it apart. Let me know what you are trying to accomplish and I can assist you.http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/sy...

Follow this link to a great article on how to dismantle laptops. If this isn't the particular model you're needing just search around and I'm sure you'll find one that suits your needs. I've used it several times and found it very helpful.

RESTORING A DELL COMPUTER OR LAPTOP BACK TO AS NEW CONDITION.

If you do not have a RECOVERY CD then contact Dell to purchase this Recovery CD for your model Dell computer or laptop.
Boot up using the Recovery CD and follow the instructions.

The other way is to re-install Windows using a Windows installation CD; it must match the Windows version on the Windows Product Code label on the bottom of your laptop or on the side or back of the desktop computer.

Boot up using the Windows installation CD and follow the instructions.
Next install all of the Dell's computer/laptop device drives.
Next install the Windows service packs (SP2 & SP3 for XP, SP1 & SP2 for Vista)
Next Activate Windows via the Internet or by phone.
Next install all your programs - Microsoft Office, anti-virus etc.
Next click on Start - Programs - Windows Update (for the latest updates).
Next copy your data back to the computer/laptop.

The device drivers for your model computer/laptop can be downloaded from the Dell WEB support site.

To download the drivers from Dell WEB site, select your model desktop or laptop, or a better option, type in the Service Tag number, this is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). The Service Tag will open the page where the drivers specific for your model computer/laptop are located. Dell inspiron 1520 won't turn on.

Remove the battery from its compartment on the side of your Dell Inspiron laptop computer.

Remove the power adapter from its plug on the side of the Dell Inspiron (if your laptop is currently plugged into a wall outlet).

Press down and hold the "Power" button on the laptop for one to two minutes. This will dispel the excess electrical current that is built up inside the laptop.

Put the battery back inside the compartment of your Dell Inspiron.

Plug your power adapter back into the side of the Dell Inspiron. Press "Power." Your laptop computer will now turn on.

hope this helps

My Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop is not even a year old and the screen has been blacking out, to where I have to restart the computer to make my normal screen come back. This has been going on for at least 6...

This is really a tough call, by rights this laptop should have gone back to Dell for repair or exchange because the problem can only get worse, I assume you have a one year warranty on the item. This might sound crazy, can you afford a cheap laptop? even if you found a good second hand laptop until your Dell is properly serviced. Then when you get it back and you are satisfied with it sell your other one off. The only other option is hook a spare monitor to the video output on the back of the Dell laptop to see if the same problem exists, if not! if proves the problem is in the screen of your LCD and it might be just a loose video cable that is attached from the motherboard to the screen display. I don't no what else to suggest to you, unless you can rent one and make Dell pay for the down time that you don't have it, "just a thought" I wish you luck.

Dell 1735 won't recognize new battery

try this:
remove battery
unplug power adapter from the laptop
hold power button down for ten seconds
this will drain the laptop power completely.
place battery back in and plug power adapter back in.
Now turn your laptop back on.
let it start normally
if you using Windows XP go to start button then control panel then power options and in the power meter tab see the computer sees your battery. check to see if battery light is on.

if not then buy your battery from.
