There's no volume control on your monitor, you have to do it from your desktop/windows volume controller. Good luck Thank you for using FixYa.

Vl173 screen off center

Sounds like the trouble may be in trusting the auto-set defaults. If you haven't already, try setting the horizontal and vertical settings manually and see if it helps. Those adjustments should be easy to find, and if that will solve the issue, it will be a very simple fix. I hope this helps. -Steve

The power supply for my Princeton Monitor, Model VL1916, S/N WCCE4307992 has gone bad. How do I get a replacement?

THe AC adapter (power supply) for my Princeton VL173 went bad. I discovered it was the PS and not the display by plugging in an old adapter from an HP printer that I had replaced. The input plugs matched and the power out profiles were nearly identical Only very minor differences). It was just a stab in the dark, but it works! Now my display is 12 years old and still going strong. I hope this helps.

I have an old Princeton VL 173 that I had been using with an old computer running Windows XP Pro. It works fine. Got a computer with an Asus MB and a Intel Core 2 Quad running Windows 7 Home Premium...

It sounds like a driver/software issue. When you ran the Princeton VL173 on XP you probably had all the correct software for your video card and the correct drivers to support your video output. When you changes OS to Windows 7, the XP drivers are no longer in place. My best guess is that you need to find and install the correct drivers for your system video and for your video card that are Windows 7 compatible. The old XP drivers will not work in Windows 7.

I am running XP with a Princeton VL173. It works great. I identified the correct video drivers for my system and installed them. My video card is nVidia 8800GT. I downloaded and installed the latest software from nVidia and installed it. It runs like a champ.

Several months ago my display died. It was just blank -- black. I tried using a power supply (AC adapter) from an old HP printer that died, and it worked! The plugs were identical, and the power output profiles were very nearly identical. It has been rinnung great for many months now.

I hope this helps.

Princeton VL173 monitor (12V 4A) only stays on momentarily

Sounds as if you may be dealing with a power supply (AC Adapater) issue. I had one go out on my Princeton VL173. I wasn't sure whether it was the PS or the display that went back. One day it just went black.

I had a hard time trying to find a replacement power supply. Out of desperation I used an old AC adapter (power supply) from an old HP printer that died. It had the same plug, and the power output profile was very nearly identical.Oddly enough, it worked! It has been trouble free for many months now. And it fit within my budget. (free!)

If the power output profile on the HP adapter was not so very close -- almost identical -- I'm not sure I would have done it. Also, it may be that the two power supplies are not intended to be interchanged. But I can tell you that from my experience it has worked out great so far, and it has been a lot of daily use for a long time.

I hope this helps.

I have a Princeton VL173 Monitor and when I switch it on the screen comes up for about 2 seconds then goes blank, and each time I switch it on and off by the monitor it only stays up for a second or two. I...

Would think that this one could be a bad capacitor problem.
The unit is pretty easy to dissasemble, and remove the screen itself from the housing, look at the power board, the main board in the middle of the unit, and see if you see any bulged or leaking capacitors. they look like little beer cans...should be flat on top. If you see any bulged or leaking capacitors, order replacements at mouser.com and replace them with a soldering iron. Should fix the problem. Bad caps are a very common problem in all kinds of electronics.

A nid drever 17" flat panel display. Model VL173

You do not need driver for monitor, but you do need driver for video card. You just have to make sure to set the resolution on your computer to the monitor native resolution.

Princeton VL173 scrren blank

Sounds like the monitor took a power surge. Monitor is probably bad but try hooking up the power to the monitor on a different power outlet and see if it turns on, if not then the monitor is bad and would need to be replaced.
