Will not turn on. Message Protect

The receiver will not turn on. It stays in standby mode but automatically shuts when I try to turn on with a blinking Message "Protect". There don't seem to be any fuses blown. Thank you

As soon as the speakers are turned on, there is a popping noise through the speakers then the receiver shuts off and stand bye light blinks

Sounds as if you may have a bad speaker component that is causing the unit to go into a protection mode to protect the unit from shorted speakers/outputs. Try to unplug the speakers entirely and then turn on the unit...If it still does this and goes into standby with the speakers disconnected then there is a problem probably in the audio amplifier circuit that will need servicing by a technician. If the unit stays on..then I would try to put different speakers on the unit to see if it works..if so, then suspect your speakers...if not , then suspect the receiver

Unit only stays on for 4 seconds then turns itself off.

This is a short or unstable ohm load. Remove all speaker wire connections to see if the amp will stay on.
If the problem goes away when disconnecting the speaker wires try this:
1) Check volume level on zone one and zone 2 if connected. If it is too high the amp will go into protect mode and shut off exactly as you described.
2) Make sure no wires are touching any other wire or the metal surface of the amp. This will cause a short and send the amp into protect mode.

The receiver turns on and immediately goes to standby

The unit is going into protect mode. Lets hope it has done the job and the receiver has protected itself from failure.
Protect mode can result from speaker wires touching each other or the Amps metal case. Check that first.
It can also be caused by unstable ohm loads if too many speakers are connected to any of the outputs especially zone 2.
If you can remove all speaker wires and turn the unit back on. If it stays on, turn the volume down on the main zone and zone 2 if connected. Then reconnect speaker wires.

Receiver keeps turning on and off also the standby mode blinks

The receiver is going into "protect" mode. This means that a problem has been detected and the unit shut down to prevent further damage. Without seeing the unit and taking some internal measurements, it is difficult to provide a complete solution. Typically, the output transistors fail which can cause this. There are other possibilities too. I would suggest that you get a detailed repair estimate from a local shop. With that information, we may be able to walk you through the actual repair.

My Denon 4802R receiver shuts off after turning on the power button and the standby light continues to flash.

Amp is going into protect mode.
Usually means faulty speaker(s).
Dissconect ALL speakers, try again.
If it still does it it may be a internal fault.

Going into protect due to either blown channel or probably a 15v regulator might be down which I have seen many times also. causing unit to go into protect.

"Protect" message

It is most likely an amplifier problem. I had this problem before. It went into "Protect" mode and shut down. When I turned it back on, my left channel speakers made a buzzing noise and did the same thing again. I got it diagnosed at an electronics repair shop and they found that the two STK amplifier IC's were bad. One is about $106 and the second one is about $78. I got it fixed for about $200 and works basically like new again.
