Question about Friedrich QStar SQ06J10 Air Conditioner

Open Question

This is for a Friedrich QStar SQ06J10 AC unit - When switch is normally shifted to the 'cool' position ('on' mode), it seems to not complete the circuit. Jiggling or pressing hard on the switch will make the unit run, but one has to hold the switch. Can a DIY-approach fix the connection, so the unit will run as expected? or does the switch panel need to be replaced? Relatedly, might it be 'better' to simply swap out this unit for a newer, possibly more-efficient unit?

SOURCE: Friedrich qstar airconditioner

With the price of a/c today it would be better to replace it then repair it. there could be a leak in the system or a bad compressor.

Friedrich CP24F30 money saver mode not working

Money saver mode dose not regulate room temperature. All that mode dose cycle fan on and off with the thermostat if in the yes position then fan cuts on and off with the call for cool. if in the no position than fan runs all the time even when cool is not needed. that switch is like the auto/on on a thermostat for central air. the thermostat is what regulates temp in room.

My ac starts but it doesn't wanna cool whats the problem??

Multiple issues, it could be low on freon (depending on the model replacing it may require a authorized repair man). Or it could be the condenser coils aren't charging properly. When it turns on do you notice an audible click when the temp setting should kick the a/c on? If not it's then the coils could be clogged or not connected properly.

Squirrel cage fan won't start and after a bit hot air comes out the front (not blown out just eakes out)

Hello, yes there is a capacitor located in the control panel that should be replaced if the fan does not start on it's own. Usually most motors are permantly lubricated if they are newer so they do not need lubrication.

I think 2 things will correct this problem. 1. be certain that the unit is tilted to theoutside about 1 inch or so. 2. be certain that the filter is clean.. Let me know if it does not solve it . have a great day
