let me understand this
this is not post , saying that and unstated USB device is dead
but is Phantom device. you dont want.
That is PNP
why not unplug all USB devices, then put them all back in 1by 1 to see which one is the problem child.
then get the correct driver, from HP or from the maker of the device that is failing.
there is no other way, (be connected to the web if on PnP will be near brain dead.)
are you, connected?
if say a DV6xxxxx (what is the full model number)
say there is no USB plugged in at all, that means hardware failure
deep in the MOBO
or is missing base line HP USB chip drivers missing or mangled.
this would be a true phantom, no USB devices there.
and is bad USB chip drivers for your unstated DV6
there are many DV6s and not all DV6s use the same chips
so........ see here.
see a real service tag,, to get help at HP.com
they will demand that funny 4 digits at the red arrow and us
us means for USA> as we to have special chips, .
the below is (sanitized,neutered)
DV5 example.
if posting to hp.com id say my DV6-1234us was messed up.
1234 i just made up.
