Question about Kohler Forte entertainment remote valve sink faucet with Sidespray ...

Spray split between full flow and spray settings

My Kohler kitchen faucet (KR648 Simplice single pull-down spray head) drips from the fine spray holes as well as from the center full flow opening when set on full flow. When I press hard on the button for full flow, the problem seems to go away. When the faucet is set to fine spray mode, there is also a large drip at the back spray hole. Is this a water pressure issue or a faulty button to change from full flow or spray settings? We have a private well.

I have seen this before and the problem when I saw it was that there was not enough pressure going to the faucet. I hope this answers your question.

    We did not have this issue with our old faucet though. I am wondering if the flow regulator is limiting flow, because when I take the spray head off the pressure coming through the hose is MUCH greater than coming out of the faucet. How do i remove the flow regulator?

    If you have a flow regulator it will be in the head of the faucet. If you look down the faucet head where the hose attaches you will see the restructure. To remove it you will need a 3 inch drywall screw. Thread the screw into the restructure then pull it out with a pair of pliers. It might take a couple of times to get it out.

    restructure = restrictor

  • kellydawson7 Jun 05, 2010

    Thanks. I can see the yellow restrictor but it is benhind the metal mesh screen. So I would have to punch a hole in the screen to get to it. The screen is not removable since it is crimped into the sides of the head piece. Do you know if the spray head can be taken apart? It seems like there must be a way but I don't know where to start with it?

    No the spray head can not be taken apart. You can just remove the screen by pushing it down on the side. Then try to pull it out with needlenose pliers. that is the only way I can think of doing it. On all the faucets that I have worked on I have not seen a screen at that end of the head.

    I am going to look at your faucet real fast and will get back to you.

    According to the manual on page 4 it shows that the screen is between the head and the hose. Bit also on page 8 it shows something different. Now you do not need that screen there sence there is one on the aerator. That is my opion though. You are the owner of the faucet. I am just trying to help you fix the problem. On the link below Is the manual.

Hi just moved in new home love it but the water pressure in kitchen is very low but the two baths i have the water pressure is fine can you help me please

One thing you could try is to remove the aerator at the end of the spout on the faucet, Turn water on and see if pressure is any better. If so the aerator is got something in it restricting the flow.
You also can remove the dime shaped flat in the aerator to increase water flow. It looks like a dime with a hole about 1/8" in center to restrict the flow to about 1.6 gpm. Remove it and reinstall aerator and check water flow

Most of the times when cold and hot side of faucet. It would be the first thin to check being you have good water pressure at other faucets. They catch debris and the flow slows down from the faucet's. Check out supply lines and faucet for a blockage if this doesn't take care of the problem.

Sounds like the diverter is not working properly. It is located in the spout and it maybe sticking or bad. Go to link below for a installation guide with parts break down. Click on installer's and designer's bar below picture of faucet for a diagram of faucet that may help you out.

Water volume slowed down

Sounds like you may possibly have some sediments in the screen on the spray head. When you pull the head out you can disconnect it from the flex supply line and see if the water pressure is okay with out the head connected. This will either confirm it is in the spray head or valve body.

Are you sure the spray handle is allowing the valve to open enough to allow enough water through? The problem it seems like is physical or mechanical. I am assuming you get good water flow through the faucet itself.
