I can't open links in my emails OR log in to secure websites I use such as banks? Using Internet Explorer 8 with Windows 7 - new computer

We will need to know the web browser you are using to make any suggestions. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome?

I am also curious to know what a toolbar would have to do with banking.

It there is a problem with your banks website try to upgrade whatever version of web browser you are running.

Should be able to go to that link and just download Internet Explorer 8.

You can only upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 unless you have Windows 7 as your operating system.
Personally, I would suggest using a different browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Both of these browsers are more secure and faster than Internet Explorer and should allow you to chat on Facebook. Here are the respective links:

First, verify that the user name and password that you are using is correct. Ttry to log in to your Facebook account using different computer that's connected into different network. If the same problem occur, try to access your email that is associated with Facebook.

However, if you're not able to experience the same problem on different computer, then the problem could be your internet browser. Try to optimize your internet browser or try different browser.

Here's how to optimize the browser:

* For Internet Explorer:

1. Run Internet Explorer and click on 'Tools' menu.
2. Go to Internet Options and locate the Browsing History section.
3. Click the 'Delete' button and delete the Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and History.
4. Close the Internet Explorer and re-open it.
5. Access your e-mail.

* For Mozilla Firefox:

1. Run Firefox and hit 'Tools' menu.
2. Go to 'Clear Recent History' and click the drop-down arrow for 'Time range to clear'.
3. Select 'Everything' and then click the line beside details.
4. Check browsing & download history, form & search history, cookies, cache.
5. Click "Clear Now" button.
6. Close and re-open Firefox.
7. Access your e-mail.

* For Safari:

1. Open the Safari.
2. Click the Safari menu (right beside the Apple icon) and select "Empty Cache".
3. When asked "Are you sure you want to empty the cache?", click "Empty".
4. Click the Safari menu (right beside the Apple icon) then go to "Preferences".
5. From the security dialog box, click "Bookmarks".
6. Click on "Show Cookies" button and then hit "Remove All" button.
7. Select "Done".
8. Access your email.

It is a good idea to let Windows Update fetch all the patches and security fixes for your system, as many are specifically for Internet Explorer.

After you are sure your system is up to date, open your Internet Explorer browser:

1) Click "Tools" > Select "Internet Options"

2) Click the "Security" Tab

3) Highlight "Internet" as the zone to change

4) Click "Custom level..."

5) Scroll down the options:

Under "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" select "Enable"

Under "Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting" select "Enable"

6) Click <OK> to close this window, then <OK> again to close the Internet Options dialog box.

7) Close your Internet Explorer browser

8) Reboot your computer

Try your Yahoo! Mail again. I hope this helps!

Try logging in on a different computer, and if this is not possible, then your account may have been deleted. To attempt to resolve this issue you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "help". this button should be at the very bottom left hand side of the page. ok, is it only the Home page not working, if you manually type in a website you do get there page.

I am thinking the Home page link is a old link and now dead. manually type in the address for the home page and see if that works

try deleting temporary internet files, its under tools in internet explorer

Maybe you can work around this problem by using Windows Live Mail, it lets you access all of your email addresses on one page, Also when you set it up, you just have to enter the email address and it automatically sets up the rest, works pretty good.
Not sure about the website thing though.
