Hi,
There's a spray arm at the bottom of your dishwasher--it may have a tall spray tube mounted to the center of it. There may also be a spray arm located directly beneath the upper rack of dishes and/or above the upper rack.

If debris is blocking the holes in the spray arms where the water comes out, it could cause cleaning problems. Regularly inspect each of the spray arms and clean out the holes as necessary. Often low pressures are due to dirty filters or junk in the impeller area. Clean and check. Sometimes it is because the unit is not filling to the correct level. Though usually you can hear this as the pump starts to **** in air.
Most units will fill to just under or just over the heating element.
Just under is the most common. But I do not know which is correct on this unit.
This can be checked by adding a couple quarts of hot water just after it fills.
Just be careful not to overfill it. If it then washes OK, it is probably a dirty screen filter on the input side of the water valve.

Thank you - I checked the impeller and removed slight debris - will check the screen on the input side and clean - could it be the inline water valve?

Washer will not spin just makes a grinding sound

if it is a top loader then there is probably something wrong in the basket drive tube area! the brake release arm could have broken off the 2 little pins that go into the cam,,, my washer had ground off the bottom of the tube and the clip that holds on the brake release arm fell off and would not release the brake to allow it to spin! so check that area!

Washer does not spin but makes loud clicking noise?

sounds like you could have a problem with your basket drive tube, around the clutch brake area! my machine would not spin and i found out the bottom of the basket drive tube had been ground off by the thrust washer which resulted in the clip that holds the brake release arm fell off and broke the 2 little pins on the brake release arm and it would not disengage the brake to allow the basket to spin, i bought a used basket drive tube and a new clutch ,installed and unit works fine now,,,so take a look also check your motor coupling see if it is broken ,,, and 1 more thing ,up under your agitator is the basket drive block sometimes it shears off the notches on the top of your drive tube!

Frigidaire dishwasher - upper spray arm trouble?

I do not have a problem w/the upper arm not spinning. Rather, the upper arm keeps falling off of my frigidair dishwasher. The owner's manual suggests the upper arm is a single unit. However, the upper arm component is comprised of 3 parts. The parts are an arm that distributes the water, the base that screws to the top of the dishwasher, and a small plastic type washer that rides in the base and literally holds the arm to the base. The plastic washer has two small clips that tend to wear or contrast with age; thus letting the arm fall off on a very frequent basis.

Potentially, the small plastic washer piece may have broken in the base assembly and is not allowing the arm to turn. As water flows into the arm from a hole in the base; suggesting the plastic washer may be jammed with a foreign item seems less likely. The base unit screws to the top of the dishwasher and can be removed by hand (the base is a little tight). There are no mechanical pieces to my third (upper) arm; movement of the arm is accomplished with water flow.

You may wish to remove the arm assembly and check for a broken washer or a foreign item in the assembly. As a side note, I found that I can unscrew the base and remove the assembly without removing the top dish tray. The fit is a little tight but the tedium of pulling and reinstalling the top tray can be eliminated by unscrewing the assembly w/the tray slid forward for assembly access.

Hope all you have is a foreign item that is locking the washer.

The top washer arm won't spin - Kenmore Elite 16273 dishwasher

It's probably clogged. Pull it off and check for hunks of food.

Clean on bottom rack but dirty on top

Clean the filter at the bottom of the tub. If it is dirty or clogged the water pressure may not be strong enough to spin the top arm. Make sure also the there is nothing blocking the holes of the spinner arm. If the filter and arm are clear then the pump may be failing.

Kenmore calypso washer stuck in extended spin and won't run

If you are not comfortable disconnecting the drained washer from power and water, and tipping it up so you can unscrew the bottom cover to do this, you can order Sears part # 3954702, which is the diagnostic paperwork that lets you run the washer through its paces one step at a time to help isolate problems.

However, the washer usually should have come with this paperwork, secreted in a plastic pouch up towards the top of the washer attached to the outer case way at the top (therefore hard to get to from the top without opening the top and sticking your arm to the inner surface of the outside case to find it).

Use a flashlight to look for it, and if you remove it be careful not to tear it up, and by all means do not lose it!
