Washing machine getting hung on a cycle

My 13 or14 year old Kitchenaid washing machine is getting hung on a cycle and running for hours like that. It does it on the heavy, regular and perm press setting but not the delicate (yet!) and of course overheats from running so long. It has hung up on the "drain the water cycle" and the "spin cycle". We've never had many repairs and wondered if this is something we can repair ourselves or is the machine too old for parts to still be available? Model # KAWE677BWHI

If the machine is 14 years old, it probably is time to replace it.

How do I fix my washing machine? It doesn't appear to feed enough water into the machine. The machine runs through a full cycle but appears low on water even in the middle of a full wash cycle.

I can try to explain the difference between today and the old washing machine. My question would be, are you satisfied with the washing result? If so, then everything is fine.
There are four factors that affect the washing and they make one single round (duration, temperature, mechanical action, chemical action). Old washing machines are spending more water, more detergents, more electricity power, and consequently more spoiled environment and duration of washing was app. from 1 to 1.5 hours. Today washers use less water, less detergent, less energy power, less polluting but because longer duration of washing cycle app. from 2 to 3 hours, wash result was the same as in the old machine.
I think that today confuses people how is possible that washing machine wash three hours (longer than before) and consumes less energy? Believe me this is true, and every service tehnician will explain it.
Because old habits many customers put the same amount of detergent (do not read the manufacturer's instructions) and therefore have problems with the skin. That is why an increasing number of washing machine has the option of additional rinsing cycles.

How old is Kitchenaid washer model number KAWS750JQ3?

Without the serial number I can not say exactly, but the only reference I can find (and the fact that no one sells this exact model anymore) puts the age at 13-14 years old. These were made in 2001.

My 1998 kitchenaid clothes washer, model no. kaws750g squeals for 20 seconds or so at the beginning of the spin cycle. It still gets the water out of the clothes o.k. Could it be a belt or bearings? Thanks

Belt of bearing is a good call; I usually lean toward the belt, especially if it hasn't been replaced in a while. Like on a car, when a belt becomes worn, it develops slick spots that tend to slip before they grab, causing a squeal. It's a common repair and although your washer is 13 years old, that's still pretty young as far as washing machines go.

Hotpoint WMF940 Washing machine - 11 months old. The cycle times displayed do not represent the actual times. No 5 cycle takes over 3 hours. The other displayed cycle times are similarly not...

If it is indeed less than a year old, then I recommomend you contact Hotpoint direct as the washer will still be under the years guarantee, and you should get a call free of charge

Aml 125 washer - washing for hours

i would never suggest working or attempting to work on a machine covered by guarantee but this sounds like there is a fault with the heat cycle, obviously the machine keeps tumbling until the heat reaches the right temperature, with a heat fault it will not advance, to test without removing screws etc, press any heat option button like economy or turn heat dial to no heat etc, see what happens next. hope i have helped, if so rate me please, please note most engineers know if a machine of that age has been worked on and this will void any guarantee
