Remove the kick plate ( bottom grill of refrig ) and use a vac with the flat attachment , and vac only the visible coils . Thats all thats necessary . If you do lay the refrig down , wait 24 hours before plugging it back in .

The best way I know how is to remove the ice box to the yard and lay it on its side preferably on the back of a pickup truck. Then use shop air to blow it out. A shop vac and a Whisk broom will work fine . When you lay the ice box down take care NOT to lay it down on the side that would allow oil to run into the freon lines as this would cause blockages in the freon lines. When you are finished allow for any oil in the compressor to run back down in the bottom, in other words wait an hour before plugging it back in.

Can i clean the coils with spray cleaner and hose the umit down with water

If you are talking about the outdoor unit, just spray water on your coil and then some simple green on the coil, let it sit for 10 minutes then thoroughly rinse off the coil making sure not to bend over the aluminum coil fins. If you are talking about the indoor coil, that is not consumer accessible for cleaning. You need to strip the sheet metal iff the coil to gain access which is difficult since you have the refrigerant lines leading in. If you do try to clean and strip it VERY carefully. If you puncture the refrigerant lines out side or the coil inside, you'll need to have an HVAC professional repair, evacuate, and recharge the system

GE PTAC 5500 series cooling and then blowing hot

Cooling gas is missing. Call some AC service in near to fill it, ask more of them for price. Do not switch it on until you solve this to prevent higher damage.

How do you clean the coils?

Good Morning Friend,

I understand you want o know how to remove the coils to clean them on your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# FAS257S2A. You will not be removing the coils. If you will please start by cleaning the filter like so:

• Tilt the panel out by grasping the panel from both sides, just below the controls and the air directional louvers, and gently pull to release. Pivot the panel on its hinge's and remove the filter.
• Wash the filter using liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. Rinse filter thoroughly. Gently shake excess water from the filter. Be sure filter is thoroughly dry before replacing.
• Or, instead of washing you may vacuum the filter clean.

While you are cleaning the filter, the coils will be located behind the filter area, you can clean them with a vacuum extension. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Where do I get portable a/c freon charge?

In many cases a portable a/c unit does not need to be recharged. If it is not breathing correctly it will not work correctly. Try cleaning the filter. Use a shop vac to suck out any debris on both coils. (Evaporator coil inside the window and the condenser coil outside the window). If the vacuum cannot clean it thoroughly. Try using a non flammable cleaner in a spray bottle. (A solution of Simple Green will work). After spraying the coils down with the cleaner. Rinse "well" with plain water. Repeat the cleaning until all of the dirt is removed.

Where is the filter on this dehumidifier. Mod# ad75ust

To locate the filter: Shut unit off. Remove "bucket". You should find a "tab" at top of where bucket goes in middle front of unit. Pull down to remove tab of Filter. Clean thoroughly and dry Filter before re installation. Visually inspect the coils and condenser while filter is out ( a flashlight helps). If it looks slightly dusty or like covered in felt, then it would be wise to remove front and rear covers and give the coils and condenser a thorough cleaning.

My dehumidifer runs but no water is being pulled out

Might be a dirty coil and condenser.
I have had a AD75UST0 WHIRLPOOL Dehumidifier for several years. If it actually still runs, I would suggest you take off covers and give the coils a good thorough cleaning. Otherwise the units are not designed to be serviceable aka - "disposable small appliance". if you do dispose of it take it to a qualified recycle organization for Freon products. Shut unit off.

Got a carrier synergy 2000 that I have to reset the breaker on when it gets really hot outside. It the last 9 months that I've been in my home we're talking 10-15 occasions. What's up?

Sounds like you have a dirty outdoor coil, take a garden hose and nozzle with a solid stream hose the coil clean, start at the top of the coil and work across and down thoroughly clean the coil. Keep a eye on the fins that you do not bend them if you have high water pressure.
I would you also clean the indoor coil just be careful that you keep water from getting into the furnace.

I have a Ruud A/C. For 4-6 hours my air conditioner blows cold air, then it it starts to blow hot air after that. Happens like this every day. What can it be

Check the indoor coil to see if it is icing up, if so clean the evap. coil filter ect. you have to have good air flow or it will freeze up. Setting the stat. to low below 72 degrees will do it as well, because your coil would be below 32 degrees. If that worked clean your condenser coil too. take a hose to it a solid stream and hose it clean, be thorough get very inch.

Coil Freezes up> It is not a filter and basement temp is low 60s. Possible Problems

Be sure the unit is clean inside. It sounds like there is not enough air going over the coil. If you are comfortable with it, you may want to remove the covers and thoroughly clean the coils (may have fins clean them as well). It doesn't take a lot of air restriction to cause this problem.

Although unlikely it may have lost a little bit of its charge.
Good Luck,
