My printer was in storage for a year. Now that it is out, it will not print but maybe a trace of the image. I have replaced all the ink cartiridges and still only prints a trace. What can I do to fix this?

I have same problem. CX6400. Epson support says it's out of warranty and no help from them. Have all new ink cartridges. There is NO little plastic cover to remove on the ink cartridges for this model. Did head cleaning, etc, everything. It runs, sounds like it is printing and ejects blank sheet of paper.

Take no notice of previous solutions, Epson printers have fixed print heads and replacing a cartridge does not solve the problem nor would the ink cartridge itself be clogged, it is the permanent print head in your printer.

Most clogging cases are caused by lack of use or occassional use.

First check you've removed the "tear off" strips, these allow air into the top of the cartridge and without this, ink can't flow out of the bottom of the cartridge.

If these have already been removed, proceed to "Prime" the heads.
To prime, you need to open up the [Maintenance] screen on your printer properties box, click on the [Head Clean] button and when cleaning is finished you'll be asked to print a Nozzle Check Pattern. You must cancel this by clicking [Finish]. Carry out a further 3 head cleans cancelling each nozzle check until the 4 cleans are complete, then allow it to print the nozzle check pattern. You should now see a significant improvement in the amount of clear nozzles if not a perfect print.

If the print isn't perfect carry out another "Prime" as above.

Any further Epson cartridge or printer problems, go to our help pages linked from the Epson page on our website. Here's the link straight to the Epson page: http://www.the-inkstore.co.uk/frame/pages/epson.htm

I hope this helps lots of you!

Do not reload (re-install) your software when you have physical print problems with your printer. The software is electronic control and communication and nothing to do with the condition of your ink cartridges and print heads.

Always check the net first to see if your question has been answered by someone previously even if for a different printer model number.

If for instance you typed in "Epson print problems" our site with the solutions would have appeared in the Search Engine Ranking Positions (SERP's) for you to click on and read.

If anyone gets anymore problems with Epson print quality or printer performance, just go to the Epson page on our site, lots of solutions and tips are there.

Im guessing you ink cartridge is clogged, a layer of thick ink might have blocked the holes in the cartridge where ink comes out.

Solution: Take Ink cartridge out and get it cleaned at a place like Staples,ect.. or buy a new one and hope it doesn't get clogged

My printer will not print anything. I have a full cartridge of black ink, but low on the other colors. Will it not print with the colored ink out?

Assuming the test print page prints using the black ink, printers have a setting that allows you to select black and white printing. If you need further help you need to include the manufacturer and brand of the printer. If the test page doesn't print the black ink and Since you say you have a full black ink cartridge I would also check that you completely removed the plastic tab/sticker that covered the hole the the inks comes out of and that the ink cartridge is securly installed.

My HP C4780 PRINTER WILL PRINT A TEST PAGE BUT NOTHING ELSE. How do I get it to print?

Check the settings in Windows Print Manager.

Make sure that the paper quality matches what is in the printer. If set to glossy, minimal ink is deposited on the page. Also, check the print quality - draft quality provides a minimal amount of ink as well.

Did you remove the little sticky tabs from each new cartridge? They allow air in, and ink out.

try doing 4 head cleans and then leave the printer powered up over night. Don't print or anything else after the head cleans until the morning then do one more head clean (this soaks the print head in ink overnight and then the final head clean should clear any obstruction. If the printer still refuses to print in colour, you could try replacing the cartridges anyway as they can be faulty. The only problem is thaty sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new priner. (how silly is that!) By the way, are you using compats or epson original ink carts?

Blank pages are indicative ofdried ink.

If the printer has not been used for a long time ink may have settled and dried in the heads.

You may need to replace the cartridges (IF they are very old) and run several head cleanings if there is no improvement.

I typicall try to print a few test pages to see if some of the color work.
