Ok well recently my mum got the new iphone 3gs as she had droped and smashed the touch screen of her iphone 3g, so she said i could have it, i went to ebay and bought a replacement screen for $20 australian which included all the tools to repair it. everything went fine, i repair the iphone and it worked perfectly. I then went ahead and jail broke it and unlocked so i could use my current sim card in the phone (network : 3). The problem is now that after a few months of using the fixed phone today i relised the the bottom half of the screen just completely stopped working with no warning. The phone is now stuck on the lock screen as i an able to slide across the tab. I tried restarting and nothing happened, i reformatted the iphone and still nothing. The apple 1 year warrenty is up and i really dont want to have to take it into an apple store ( due to jail breaking etc) so is there any way to repair this ( i have heard talk of reinstalling screen drivers or something) or is the digitizer broken and should i buy another $20 screen from ebay or i pray not but is my iphone buggered?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

That's common. iPhone 4's and the 3GS are made differently. The button in a 3GS is actually part of the screen as in a 4 it's separate from the screen making it easier to be pushed down and not get as dirty. It needs taking apart and cleaned.
Yes there's a distinction between the iPhone 3G screen/digitizer and the
iPhone 3Gs screen/digitizer. The glass is exactly the same however the
cable for the digitizer relationship is not. You can inform the once the
iPhone is opened by you that the link is various. The unlock iphone 3gs connection
has a broader bill in the center and can not match. If someone is wanted
by you to emerge to your house or company and replace
My guess would probably be that the lcd in the phone was damaged maybe from temperature changes from where it was assembled to the time that you are holding the phone. You can fix this problem (if it is just that the LCD is damaged) by going here( http://cgi.ebay.com/iPhone-3G-Replacement-LCD-Screen-Display-Repair-Tools-/220501679869?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3356ec9efd ). you will need a very tiny Philips screwdriver and a suction cup that will fit on the glass of the phone. you remove the screws in the bottom of the phone by the dock connector and then take the suction cup to the bottom half of the screen and pull straight up and the digitizer and bezel should pull right up and then from there it should be pretty self explanatory to replace the lcd
Okay try this, ive been doing this and making a TON of money on it recently... go you youtube and search for iPhone 3g (or whatever kind you have, 3g,3gs,2g) digitizer replacement.
you can go to ebay and search for iphone 3g digitizer and it will come up with tons of links to buy them, order one, its about $20 and then put it on like said in the youtube vidoes... i dont suggest using Direct Fix's or PDAParts.com's video...
take out two screws on bottom of phone,
take a suction cup the the glass of the phone and pull up,
once inside look for where the cables connect and disconnect,
unscrew 6 screws and CAREFULLY pull off the LCD,
go ahead an rip off all the glass from the plastic frame,
replace with new digitizer (glass),
and put LCD back on,
re-assemble and put screws back in the bottom (dont forget to plug cables in),
power up iPhone,
you good! (:
this will only work with iPhone 3g/3gs
original iphones your kind of just stuck with a paper-weight
The iphone screen is divided in half and has a connection for each. Have you had the phone apart recently? if so you may have a loose connection on the LCD If not you LCD could have just gone bad. Is your phone under warranty? If you have Apple Care, call the local apple store and take the phone to them. They will probably give you a replacement under warranty. If it is not under warranty, find a local cell phone tech and have the LCD replaced or replace it yourself. The 3G is fairly easy to work on if your really really careful getting the Front Glass off.
