As per solution 1 You may have a loose connection in the drill or the cable has broken at the cord grip inside the drill. This is a more probable cause from past problems. Another is that the brushes need replacing as they are down to there hast bit of carbon. Also check the plug for loose connections and again the cable under the cord grip.

You most likely have a loose connection inside somewhere, when you turn the drill to another position it creates a gap in the connection, therefore breaking the circuit.

The Drill has little to moderate use over the last 25 years just developed a problem:

Check the carbon brushes on the back of the motor. It sounds like they are worn or the spring that holds them against the commutator is broken.

Car Amplifier Installation

Mounting your Amplifier The mounting position of your amplifier will have a great effect on its ability to dissipate the heat generated during normal operation. It has an ample heat sink for heat dissipation, and also designed with a thermal shut-down protection circuit ( most amplifiers) making it reasonably tolerant of mounting variations. Any configuration with allows moving air to be directed over the cooling fins will improve heat dissipation dramatically, DO NOT enclose the amplifier in a small box or cover it so that air cannot flow around the heat sink fins. Temperature in car trunks have been measured as high as 175 F ( 80 C) in the summer time, since the thermal shut down point for most amplifiers is 185 F (85 C), it's easy to see that it must be mounted for maximum cooling capability. To achieve maximum advantage of convection air flow in an enclosed trunk, mount the amplifier in a vertical position, on a vertical surface. Cooling requirements are considerably relaxed when mounting inside the passenger compartment since the driver will not often allow temperatures to reach a critical point. Floor mounting under the seat is usually satisfactory as long as there is at least 1 inch (2 cm) above the amplifier's fins for ventilation.
  1. Select a suitable location that is convenient for mounting, is accessible for wiring, and has ample room for circulation and cooling.
  2. Use the amplifier as a template to mark the mounting holes, remove the amplifier and drill as much holes as required , USE EXTREME CAUTION, INSPECT UNDERNEATH THE SURFACE BEFORE DRILLING.
  3. Secure the amplifier using the proper screws.

Please rate the tip if it helped you in anyway, thanks.

Bosch csb 550 RE only works in the vertical position

10th March 2013. I experienced the same problem with my Bosch drill. Yes, it also only worked when held in the vertical position. I pulled the drill apart. In my case, the problem was right at the base of the drill where the electrical cord and the drill meet. In that area, there is a flat piece of hard plastic which holds the cord securely in place. This is held down by two screws. Directly beside that is the rubber attachment that hold the drill chuck. Well, right in that spot, there was a gaping hole in the wiring (refer attached photo). It will not be seen, unless you, or a service agent, pull that area apart. Anyway, I shortened the cord, secured the wiring again, and the drill works perfectly. Good luck. Ted.

I ahve a mains powered drill. I have been using it this morning with no trouble. Between changing the drill bits it has developed a problem. The drill will turn on if you tilt it to the sky, but it won't...

Please check your cables terminal for loose and carbon brushes for dirty. It just simple things ( loose contact) in my opinion.

My work station ( drill press handel ) won't stay up .the weight of the drill causes the handel to stay down.i believe the handel stays in the upright position until you manually bring it do i fix...

I don't have one of these, and aren't familiar with them, but it sounds like you might have a counterbalance spring that is either broken or out of adjustment. That's where I would start anyway. Good luck with it.

Why doesn't my HP 1501 Makita hammer drill work

The problem was the cord at the base of the drill. The wires were broken, cause by constant bending. After souldering the wires, the drill works perfectly.

2 Milwaukee 18VDrills stopped working - NEED repair help

This may not be as easy as you think. The first one my have trouble with the trigger switch, but it could be the motor. Without checking continuity, or replacing them individually you will not be able to tell which one is bad.

Another problem could be the brushes. That is what is most likely wrong with the 2nd one. Remove the 2 black screw caps on the rear of the drill, and remove the carbon brushes. Do they look worn? If so they will need to be replaced. If this is the case the motor may be breaking down, and wearing the brushes down too fast.

The good news is that Milwaukee Tools, offer a 5 year limited warranty, If you have a receipt, or can read the serial number. Take it in, or mail it to a service center. They will take care of it for you if they are less then 5 years old.
