There's a safety switch under the seat. If it isn't working, the mower will shut off when you release the brake. Look under the seat, check the wires and the switch. Remove the switch, tape it in the actuated position, and carefully test the mower to see if that solves it. If so, the switch mounting must be the problem. If not, the switch itself could be bad. Jump the connector to the switch with a wire to see if that solves it. If so, replace the switch. Good luck! Please rate if you found this helpful, thanks!

On john deere la150, if i sit on seat and engage blades,,,nothing, but when i lift of seat, blades engage and motor shuts off. Replaced seat switch and did not fix problem

"On john deere la150, if i sit on seat and engage blades,,,nothing, but when i lift of seat, blades engage and motor shuts off. Replaced seat switch and did not fix problem" Okay, what I'm hearing is that "nothing" means the blades-driving PTO won't engage (declutch) when you switch on mower; but then, (say) as you start to dismount the mower (seat) the mower (drive clutch) engages even as the deadman switch (seat switch) kills the engine (and the drive/pto shaft starts to slow down. The key here seems to be that at full engine torque the clutch is unable to remain engaged but, rather, slips so that mower blade inertia (resistence) cannot be overcome...but as engine/pto rotation slows the clutch is able not to slip. First place to consider is the clutch gap which is probably to0 large (possibly from wear and tear, possibly not). So check specs and how-to from manual or factory and reset the pto drive clutch gap...not hard to do. If clutch gap is not the problem then most likely rehab or replacement of the clutch assy will be needed...is the mower has many years use sufficient to wear out the clutch. Another possiblity is an electic (wring/switching/grounding) problem involving mower and deadman switches.

X520 jd mower trouble

Sounds like a problem with the governor. Start it up. Don't engage the blades. Drive to a hill. Idle all the way down. Try driving up the hill. The motor should pick up when it slows while pulling up the hill. If it doesn't, the governor isn't working right.

Bracket clutch anti-rotation

Without the anti-rotation arm installed when you engaged the PTO the clutch spun and probably ripped out the wires connecting it to the harness. This can be repaired but is tricky. If you have a Husqvarna dealer close by, it will save you several hours of labor to have them correct the problem.

The mower starts but the blade switch won't conect yth1542xp

Husqvarna uses an electronic clutch to engage the mower deck. When the clutch works itself out of adjustment it will quit working. Sometimes it will blow the 20 fuse and the tractor will continue to run, but the blade won't engage. When you then shut off the tractor it won't crank again until you replace the fuse. When you attempt to engage the blades again, the fuse will blow again.

Follow this link for a detailed description of the adjustment process:

Hit a peice of metal, now mower won't engage.

The mower engages by an electronic clutch. If it doesn't squeal/smoke/start the mower deck when you try to engage the mower, then the electronic clutch is faulty (you may have sent shrapnel into the clutch), or the belt is cut or damaged enough not to drive the deck. If this problem is indeed associated with the mowing metal problem then you need to visually check under the engine - that's where the electronic clutch that drives the mowerdeck is located. You'll notice that there is a drive belt that goes from the engine to the mowerdeck. That's your drive belt. You should loosen the belt and check the mower deck to see if you can rotate the drive pulley and in turn this rotates the blades (of course you do this with the engine off). That would determine if it's the deck or the clutch that has issues. Your instruction manual will show you how to loosen the belt then try to spin the mower deck drive pulley. If it spins by hand then look back toward the clutch. If the deck doesn't rotate then it needs to be removed so you can flip it belly up to see what's hindering the movement. These decks clog easily, but if clogged when you try to engage the mower deck it will squeal. They're easy to remove (if you have some kind of overhead lift - if not they can be a pain). Good luck

Toro 216 triple mower . the electric clutch will not switch off leaving the blades in drive all the time . can the clutch be striped down and repaired

the switch where the blades are engaged try to unplug from the back of the switch if the blades are still engaged after you unplug the switch then the clutch is at fault. If the blades disengage and shut off after you unplug the switch then all you need is the switch!! The clutch can be repaired but the parts are very hard to get if you can even find them!

Tractor wont drive or engage electric clutch.

It thinks you aren't sitting on the seat.
There are 2 wires and a switch under the seat. The plug may have come off, the connections might be bad, or the switch might be bad.
