Question about Kenmore Dryers
If your ignitor (glow bar) lights up below then the wiring up above is good. You would not get the glow at all if something were wrong on the console controls.
When you are looking at the pilot, is it an actual flame or just a glow of orange? If it is just the glow bar ignitor and not a flame the problem is most likely one of the gas valve coils or the wire to the coil, the coils sit on top of the gas valve just in front of the burner.

No, the problem is your thermo-pilot. It is the metal rod that sticks up just pass where the flame comes out. That basically is a sensor to tell the unit that you have flame. If that sensor is white in color then it is not sensing flame which means that the gas valve will automatically shut itself down. Your pilot is control by the gas valve and not anything to do with up top.
