If you can not shut the valve off then most likely it has calcium build up in it. I would recommend shutting off the water supply at the angle stop. Then removing the saddle valve and see what is going on. If it is built up with calcium you may be able to clean it depending on how shot it is. If you are unable to clean it then a new one is not that expensive and they are easy enough to replace

We have a Samsung side by side. Ice maker on the top as part of frig. water is leaking and I see the ice stopper is not closing to keep the warm air from entering the ice compartment. Any ideas

If the icemaker is leaking water onto the floor:
  • Turn off the icemaker and then turn off the water supply to the icemaker. See Icemaker On/Off Switch.
  • The water supply line is usually located under the kitchen sink.
  • Locate the cold water line and look for a small 1/4" copper line attached to it. Where these two lines meet, there will be a saddle valve. This is the shut-off valve. Turn this valve in a clockwise manner until it stops. This will shut off the water to the icemaker.

What does a sadle valve look like on a ice meachine

You probably do not have a saddle valve within the components of you Ice machine. It is a cheap quick fix to a water tie in supply. It is only meant to be temperary due to the high failure rate in regards to water shut off and leakage. It is installed on the outside of the water supply line. It has a Tee at the top. The tee is about 1/32" bronze rod, It raps around the water supply line. It "saddles" the supply tubing. It is flanged on with two screws. It is a nasty percing valve that should be outlawed do to all of the water damage created by leakage.

Where's the "saddle valve" in my Model

The saddle valve is the part you hook up under your refrigerator water supply to a water line under kitchen sink and cold water side of the copper pipes. The saddel valve looks like the parts below in photo. And some call the dual water control valve a saddle valve. If you are having trouble withe the water control valve your model takes a part number=> 241734301 Tripple Water Inlet Valve

I have a carrier humidifier model #HUMCCLBP18-A. I shut the water off to install a new filter, and now I cannot get the water back on. I'm not sure if I need to turn the water opener to the right or to...

First I have a question for you. Is the shut off valve a saddle type valve or inline? A saddle valve will mount directly on the water line and be held in place with two machine screws. They will generally have a t type handle. The inline is just what you would think in that it is part of the water line. This type of valve may have the same t handle. Either way to shut valve off you turn clockwise and counterclockwise for on. Off to the right .
Most of the valves used for this application are a needle valve they have a pointed end that seals into a recess in valve body when closed. It's possible that when you shut it off the valve stem broke or just stuck in off position. If there is a small hex nut around the valve stem where it goes into valve body then you can shut off water supply off to inlet of valve and remove the nut and try to pull stem up with small pliers.
Either way if you can't get valve to open then you can easily replace them. Either the saddle valve or compression valve should cost under ten dollars. If you do replace then just follow instruction that come with valve.I hope this helps you some. Thank you

What is the saddle valve?

Your humidifier will have either a copper or plastic tubing attached to it. This tubing is the water tubing. If you follow that line to where it "taps" into a water line (near the water heater or a water line under your house), there should be a water shut-off valve. The water shut-off valve could be any type of valve but is normally a saddle valve. You could skip the step of shutting off this valve; however, it is good practice to shut the valve off for two reasons: 1. in the event of a water leak, you will be able to easily locate the valve to shut off the water. 2. if the valve is not "excercised" from time to time, the seals will dry rot and the valve will not be capable of doing it's job when the need arises.

Here is a video showing you how to trace your water line to your saddle valve. There is additional information on the video that you might find helpful as well.

How do you turn off the water line to the refridgerator? Is there a shut off on the fridge somewhere? Our water is going to be shut off on tuesday for work in the area and then will be back on with a boil...

There is not a shut off valve on the refrigerator for water supply, but you should have a valve on the water supply line behind the refrigerator or at the water supply line where it taps into the main waterline, I would shut it off and then when the water supply is returned to service, I would disconnect the water line from the back of the refer and purge the water line for about a minute or two into a bucket or equivalant, just to make sure all sediment and other foreign stuff doesn't contaminate your refer.
Good Luck !

JCD2389GES water dispenser over-runs and also starts on own

Low water pressure can be very problematic when it comes to icemaker/water dispenser water inlet valves. If there is low water pressure to the valve, the valve may not seat correctly causing icemaker fill tubes to freeze, icemakers to over/under fill or water dispensers to leak or not shut off fast enough. Check the water pressure to the valve like this:

Turn off the water supply to the refrigerator and remove the water supply line from the water inlet valve behind the refrigerator.

Put the end of the water line in a bucket and turn the water supply on. There should be a good stream of water jetting from the tube. If there is not, the water supply shut off valve is probably plugged and needs to be replaced or there could be an in-line water filter that needs to be replaced. Only use a drill style (non-self piercing) saddle valve for the water supply.

If there is a good stream, the water inlet valve that the water line connects to at the back of the refrigerator should be replaced.

*Note: Reverse Osmosis (R/O) systems should never be used to supply water to icemakers.

Need to shut off aprilaire model 550 humidifier

you should have a humidistat that should shut it off when set to zero. if the water solenoid is stuck, water will keep coming out even when the system is not heating. all humdifiers will have a water line ran to them. yours is most likely a 1/4"copper line that runs from the water solenoid on the side or bottom of the humidifier to a saddle valve on one of your water lines. this saddle valve is usually installed very close to the water heater. follow the line to the valve and shut the water off. sometimes you have to loosed the nut on the water valve to get it to turn easily. do not loosend the nut more the 1/4 turn and then make sure you tighten it back down after shutting the water off.

Maytag refrigerator Model MZ02766GEW does not dispense water

In the water supply line to the refrigerator is normally a saddle type valve where the water supply is connected to your house water line. Trace it back and shut the valve off fully then turn it back on. When some work is done to any part of your household water system sediment may have lodged in the saddle valve causing a restriction. Closing the saddle valve and reopening it may dislodge the restriction.
