This is a common problem. Try turning off the propane tank valve and disconnecting it. Then reconnect it and very slowly turn the tank valve back on. Make sure the grill burner gas valves are all off before you do this. When you turn on each burner, do it slowly and one-at-a-time. Hopefully this will solve your problem. If not, there could be other issues that we can discuss in detail, if needed. Douglas

I am having the same problem. I have purchased a new regulator and get the same fading issue when I turn on multiple burners. The Tanks are full, and all burner control knobs function properly (I have soap checked them). It seems like something is shutting the flow down as the other burners are turned on. PLEASE HELP!

Most likely, you are simply turning the gas tank valve on too fast. The regulator/hose set up you have contains a built-in excess flow valve that restricts the flow of gas when turned on too fast. Close the tank valve, disconnect the tank and reconnect. Then very slowly turn on the tank gas valve. In rare cases, the OPD (overfill prevention device) inside the gas tank gets stuck in the closed position, and does not allow you to get gas out of the tank. If this happens, it's just best to swap out the 20lb cylinder at the place you exchanged it at. Douglas

Thanks, I have tried this and unfortuantely the same problem. I also swapped a couple other tanks with the same results.

Where is the ignite button located

Hi phillzy21
If the main grilling burners don't ignite, try lighting them several times using the snap ignition. If that doesn't work, try using a match. In humid and windy conditions, sometimes the snap ignitions do not work properly. Make sure that the hood is fully open. Also, ensure that your gas is turned on and that the valve is fully open. Next, take out both the heat distribution plates and cooking grate. Turn the grill backwards, and hit the snap igniter a few times and look for a spark. If you see a spark, the igniter is working properly.

Why won't my Weber grill ignite after installing a

Disclaimer- be careful when working with gas. Starters in gas grills are just about novelty anymore. Often, they only light 1/3rd or 1/4th of the burners and they usually stop working within one grilling season. I recommend using a wand lighter. Try to light just one burner but if doesn't light in 5 to 7 seconds, turn the gas off and wait to try again. Incidentally, you are turning the gas on at the tank, right? You should hear it when you turn the burner on.

On a kenmore 5 burner grill when lighting the fourth burner all of the grill shuts down, regardless of which is the fourth burner?

Sounds like the pressure regulator is malfunctioning. Try disconnecting your gas line. Open/Close all burners then reconnecting gas. If propane, don't turn bottle off before burners. Always turn burners off first, then bottle. then bottle on before burners. This primes the regulator to the proper pressure.

I have a full bottle of gas but there doesn't seem to be any pressure. All the burners light but i don't get temps over 180

hi barty1950...
Check your burners to see that they are not plugged up.
I suspect that the regulator is the problem...take a hammer and lightly tap on the top and the bottom of the regulator as the flame is may loosen uop the needle valve and allow it to get more gas, if this did not work then replace your regulator as it is faulty.

I have a Webber Q Family BBQ for about 2 - 3years. I noticed say last 6 months that the burners are not working properly and the grill is not hot enough ie take 3 times longer to cook a steak etc. I read...

OK, it sounds to me that when you changed the propane tank, you may have turned the gas tank valve on too fast. Doing so causes the built-in excess flow valve to check, which only allows a trickle of gas through. Do this: Turn off the gas tank, disconnect it and drain any remaining gas from the grill by opening a valve to a burner. Close the grill valve and then reconnect the tank. Very slowly open the tank valve and try lighting a burner again and see it that solves the problem. Douglas

I am scared to death of gas grills -- nearly burned my hair and eyebrows off years ago -- husband always lights it -- he's out of town -- how do I light a Weber gas grill?

Be sure your outdoors in the open. Be sure that the cover is off. Use a large match stick (fire place)or a butane grill lighter to burn the gas. Place the lite match/lighter to the burner head and open the gas bottle. After 6 seconds, If the burner head does not light shut the gas bottle off. Try again till it lights.

My grill would not preheat to proper temperature for several uses. Then it would not light, there was no gas smell from the burners.

Sounds like your propane bottle is empty...or maybe you have a bad regulator. Disconnect your propane bottle and pick it up; if it is very light, you need to get the bottle filled (or exchange it for a full one, depending on the type of bottle you have). If the bottle has plenty of gas, change out your regulator.

No gas is getting to the burners. It was working and suddenly quit. I changed the bottle to a new bottle. No gas. I ran a thin wire through the regulator. No gas. There are three burner valves - none...

This problem sounds like the internal vent in the regulator has clogged up and will not change state to let the valve inside open. You can purchase the regulator from most hardware chain stores or directly from the manufacturer.

Hope this helps you out.
