Question about RCA Scenium HD50LPW52 Replacement Lamp
I just replaced the bulb/housing in my RCA Scenium HD50LP175W, but the screen is very dim. I checked all the picture settings and they're good.
No noises other than the normal stuff. I can see where the color wheel is and it looks in good shape.
Is it simply that my bulb is bad? Should I check the bulb with a meter? Please advise and thanks in advance!
Sounds like your light engine is damaged. Could be cracked. You can replace it for under 100.00 which includes a new engine and color wheel as well.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Yes, the lamp will gradually get darker as it nears it's end. The rolling lines sounds more like the set is on a local channel for the cable hook up. If your local area has a channel 3 or 4 live terestrial broadcast simply tune the cable box output to the other one, the same for the tv.
If this is cable/local broadcast issue it will go away in Febuary when the NTSC broadcast ends.

If this is a DLP, which I believe it is, your bulb is blown. Look for an indicator light on the front of the tv. After you hear the bulb try to warm up two or three times the indicator light should come on and stay on steady.
I own a 57" Mitsubishi DLP and have replaced the bulb three times now. It was the latest and greatest technology when I bought it, but knowing what I know, I dont think I would buy another DLP.
By the way, get the bulb number then check ebay, by far the best prices.

SOURCE: color wheel
I would make sure the assy you pulled out to get to the color wheel is pushed all the way back in. If it is then you may just need to adjust a setting in the picture menu.
