Question about Janome Sewing Machines

1 Answer

We installed sensor detectors in the light switch that controlled the florescent lighting over my sewing/work area. The timer was not set properly and the outlet overheated and caused my machine to automatically turn off and I have not been able to get it to turn back on since. Is this a problem that I can take care of myself (by purchasing a part) or do I need to take it to a Janome repairman. My machine is a model Harmony #330088927.

Hi it sounds like something has shorted in the machine itself, this would defiantly be a janome repair mans job, have you checked the fuses? i think this has an internal fuse somewhere on the underside if its the same model i am thinking of, check them first, but if the socket fuse is ok, and the internal fuse is ok, then i am afraid it will be a call out hope this helps...

Would those be in-line type fuses? Will we be able to tell if they are "fried" by the way they look? Will we be able to purchase them at Home Depot (are they a common type fuse), or do we need to get them from a sewing machine repair dealer - or maybe even on on-line? We'll attempt to take the machine apart and look for them. Thanks for your help!

hi these should be your basic in-line fuses, one should be a 13amp this is normally found in the plug if that is the type you have the other should be an internal type normally 3 amp, the internal one you may have to go to a electrical retailer to purchase these as they are a longer type than the normal, you should see easily that they are blown as they will be brown, and also the wire in the internal one will be broken...hope this helps

Sewing machine won't run.

1. Make sure the machine isn't set for bobbin rewind. Also, try to move the control hookup around slightly to ensure it is making a good connection.
2. Is it possible the power switch looks like it is on but isn't because of the surrounding light? Check this and the outlet you are using.
3. Is the sewing machine light on? A puppy biting in the wire could have caused a short so a pro will have to check the guts of the machine.

I would like a wiring schematic for the speed control transformer and light on a old Necchi Mira sewing machine, please.

the light wires are not to be connected to the speed control but have a separate circuit to the on / off switch
if you have the light connected to the speed control then as the resistance to the motor is decreased it affects the power available to the light

We replaced the bulb and it doesn't work

If a new bulb does not work, then it is most likely something else, perhaps the wiring or a connection. You can probably have your machine serviced to get it fixed, or go purchase a light that you can place close to your machine to light the sewing area. There are lights available with attachment clips and a bendable neck that well let you get the light in the right spot. There are also strings of LED lights available on eBay that you can attach to the upper part of the throat to light the work area. I replaced my regular sewing machine bulb with an LED bulb and was surprised how much better it lights.

What does the 10 light mean

Manual for this machine is here: http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/bbd749beb7151a637824d777a05c51b4fb50b0a4.pdf
10 means the hoop size is too small to let the hoop move to the proper position, install a bigger hoop, according to the error codes on the next to last page.

My Shark 7133 slowed down while sewing and stopped. The handwheel won't turn at all. I cleaned the bobbin area but it still won't work. The light switches on and the machine motor reves up but...

Slacken the stop motion as if to wind a bobbin and press on the foot control, if the motor runs really fast then you have either thread stuck in the bobbin case area or you may need to oil the machine

No power to machine, checked power cords were all plugged in properly and plugged into outlet, still can not turn on light or machine to operate

If you have a light to light up the sewing area, this light has to be on or the machine will not work.
The switch should be next to were the cord goes in the machine.

I can't start to sew on my 830. The foot control is recognized(the start/stop button light goes off when I press the foot control), but does not make the presser foot come down. It worked 15 minutes ago...

If you lower the pressure foot before you press the foot control does it sew then? If so, then some how in your setting menu you auto pressure foot setting has gotten turned off.

Unable to get a straight stitch

Make sure you have the machine threaded properly. Then set your switch button to the first setting - either A or 1. Set your needle position to the center. And try sewing. let me know if that works. If it doesn't, then clean out the bobbin area and try again. But let me know what happens, ok?

My start/stop switch will not begin sewing

Is the problem with embroidery only? If with both sewing and embroidery function and there is no error code (just 00) on the display, my wife experienced the same problem. There was an internal sensor that was bad. The sewing machine shop repaired with a new Singer part. Part was about $20, labor was $180.
