Make sure you don't have a flat tire, first. If tires are OK, the mower deck may need to be leveled. Look at the arms that suspend the deck under the belly of the tractor. Make sure there isn't a branch or something caught in the mechanism, keeping the deck from hanging down where it should. If all that is OK, then the deck must be re-leveled. Park on pavement. Find the nuts on the suspension arms that can be loosened up, turned to a different position, then retightened. Use a ruler or a mark on a block of wood to ensure the left blade tip is the same distance from the ground as the right blade tip.

I have a Craftsman 42" rider cuts uneven

Check your tire pressure first, uneven tore pressure will cause this problem. On the rear of cutting deck on both sides there are height adjustments, if your deck has a rear roller this also can be adjusted to compensate,If your a stout person sitting on tractor can cause unevenes.

Uneven grass cut, makes the lawn look striped.

First make sure all the tires have the same pressure of air.

Then I would measure how much the one side of the deck is higher than the other. Then I would look under the tractor and there should be a horrozontal bar atatching to the deck and a bar coming down from the mower into this bar. usually there is a nut on the bottom than can be tighened or loosened to raise or lower the deck on that side.

There might also be a nob on the tractor that shows a picture of tall grass being cut, if you turn that that might also raise or lower the deck on either side.

How to adjust mowing deck

there are threaded anchors that hang down on each side of the deck just uder the foot boards; if u run the nut on them up/down it will raise/lower it. Be sure to do this on a level floor to ensure u dont raise one side higher than the other causing it to cut crooked.

One blade is much higher on my riding mower. how do I even them up? This is murray 42 inch.

Hi,
This is rather odd. Are you saying it's higher because of the grass height from one side of the deck to the other after mowing?
Sometimes when a spindle bearing is sloppy or played out, the belt pulls the spindle to one side. As you might imagine, this tilts the cutting blage and causes a close cut on the inside and high cut on the outer.
I would check the spindles for bearing issues. If they are ok, I would check to see if you have an issue where one blade that might be installed incorrectly. The heights aren't adjustable per the blades, just the entire deck is adjustable.
I hope this helps... Good luck!

Is this the first time cutting grass with a lawn tractor?
How tall of grass?
Use the grass cutting heigth adjustments on the tractor to a higher setting when cutting tall grass. Cut again to a lower height setting on the second pass. Grass higher than your tractor is not good for your tractor. Follow the manual instructions for best results.
