If you can still get a good connection to that side of the metal, its not hard to drill a small hole, or use a side cutter to make a cut and connect there

Could you list any (probably) keyboard internal problems that would cause the fuse in the adaptor to blow, in a PC88MX (yes it's 20 years old *L*). The original fuse blew a couple of weeks ago, after

The unit uses a 9.5V AC (at 2A) 'step down' transformer, its doubtful you will be able to replace it with anything modern (as most things are DC, not AC nowadays).
However, you may be lucky and find a similar one in a junk shop or flea market type place, anything in the range 9 - 10V AC and NOT DC should be fine, as long as its at LEAST 2A (or 2000mA), not below, although something at 1.8A might work.
Just splice the leads (doesn't matter which way as its AC) onto the old plug from the damaged unit, just make sure the leads stay apart!
Any decent electrical engineer or advanced electrician should be able to do this (properly!) or fix the unit.
That's the simplest fix.
Splicing good leads for damaged is another option, both sides are AC so it doesn't matter which wire goes to what, unless you are in the UK and the unit is earthed of course.
If the unit is intact and some of the lead is OK both sides, a terminal block connected close to the first break, nearest the transformer can eliminate the broken bit. If its damaged on the actual unit, unless you have someone that can get inside and rewire it (best option), you are looking for a replacement.

My gas gauge on my honda civic ex 2000 has been broken since ive had it. it reads at over a full tanks all the time. however the temp gauge next to the gas gauge works perfectly and all the other gauges....

Sorry, but that is the problem and is HIGHLY recomended...

Take it from me, this unit is submersed inside a tank of fuel.
There are electrical wires in there that could have a problem and cause a serious explosion.

The fuel tank will need to be removed, usually this requires draining it first. Once removed, the old float and sending unit are removed, a new one installed and new gasket seal rings replaced.

Totatly worth having it done.

If you cant afford to go ahead and pay the man what he is asking, be careful hiring some shade tree mechanic with less knowledge or experience with it.

Make sure that your drive belt is not broken. It is located above the belt on the deck.Look at the engine pulley there should be more than one belt.If it is missing or broken you will need to replace it,if you do ,I would go ahead and replace the blade belt too.

Thank you for using Fix Ya.

Batteries dead; won't run from AC

Hello,

This is either a bad AC adapter or a broken power jack in the laptop. First to test would be the adapter. You will need a multitester set on DC voltage, the adapter should be putting out about 22 volts. Put the red test lead into the center of the plug and hold the black lead to the outside of the plug. If you don't show a voltage then the power adapter is broken and you will need to get a replacement. If you do get a reading then the power jack in the laptop is broken and the unit will need to be taken to a computer shop that can open the unit and solder the connections.

I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.

Coolpix L15 broken inner screen ?

GENERAL, REPAIRS TO THESE TYPE CAMERAS ARE NOT COST FRIENDLY. THEY USUALLY HAVE TO BE MAILED TO A REPAIR CENTER, THE TIME FACTOR IS LONG AND THE COST IS USUALLY STEEP. REPAIRS ARE USUALLY NOT VERY EFFECTIVE, UNLESS THEY ARE FACTORY REFURB. UNITS. THESE ARE EXCELLENT. I WOULD SAY THAT YOU WOULD PROBABLY BE MONEY AHEAD TO JUST REPLACE THE CAMERA. SORRY, BUT MY RESEARCH HAS NOT POINTED TO REPAIR JOBS ON THINGS LIKE THIS. JUST NOT COST EFFECTIVE. HOPE THIS GIVES YOU SOME IDEAS.

Not charging

Hello brocstar,

You could have a problem either with the power cord itself or the DC input jack on your GPS.

When you say you wiggled the "power lead" to fix the problem I believe you are referring to the actual power cord. If so, it's possible that the cord has a short that has progressively gotten worse and eventually caused the cord to fail. In that case it should be a relatively simple fix to simply replace the power cord and that's where I would start.

If replacing the power cord doesn't work then the problem likely is with the GPS itself and the unit may need factory service to repair the DC jack, battery or charge circuitry.

Hope this helps,
Ken

Slide control broken on Creative Zen

If the slider is physically broken it should be able to be fixed.

If “broken” means the slider is frozen, the unit may just need to be reset.

To reset your Zen, gently press a pen head, pin, paper clip, etc into the hole under the power button for 20 seconds. This should reset the unit.

Thank you,
Agent Matt
