If you've refilled the cartridges correctly there're should be no problem. But might be you have restart your system and the printer or haven't disconnected since then. Before you follow the instructions below, clean the print contact point on the printer and on the cartridges properly, and Follow The Steps as follows:
HP 60 Ink cartridge. How - hpprinter.jpg Disconnect any USB cables attached to the printer. Restart the computer. Unlock the ink cartridge locking clips. Remove all ink cartridges. Lock down the ink cartridge locking clips. Close the main printer door Turn the printer off with the Power button and wait for the printer to shut down. Unplug the printer AC adapter from the printer and the wall outlet or surge protector. Wait approximately fifteen to forty-five seconds to allow all current to dissipate from printer. Re-plug only the AC adapter into the wall outlet then into the printer, but do not plug in the USB cable. Wait for the appropriate missing ink cartridge error to verify that printer can recognize this error. Re-insert one ink cartridge only, to minimize confusion in case one of the cartridges is defective, and print an internal test page. If no errors are found, insert the other ink cartridge(s) and ensure that they are functioning by performing internal test pages or calibration pages. If an error occurs due to a defective cartridge, perform the appropriate steps for Resolving Ink Cartridge Rejections. After returning to the main Windows screen, reconnect the USB cable to the computer then to the printer. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

SOURCE: My refilled ink cartridge still displays empty and will not print

The ink cartridge is most likely chipped & you would not be able to reset the ink level. Purchase an original or a good compatible cartridge. Refiling newer cartridges is not a good idea.

SOURCE: How to reset ink cartridges after refilling them

Go to the following website and download the freeware InkMonitor 2.1.2: http://www.pokluda.cz/. You have to add data about new cartridge. HP60 ink cartridge information, 200 pages per cartridge. This works great for me. It gives you a history of everything printed. This way you can gauge when its time to refill your cartridges. You must refill before they run out of ink or you will burn out the print heads and have to replace them.

SOURCE: #60 HP cartridge refilled. but ink indicator level says empty.

· Tape Method

  • 1 Place the HP 60 cartridge on a covered surface so that the metal contacts on the cartridge are facing you. Put tape over the top metal contact in the second column from the left-hand side, making sure the other contacts do not get covered.
  • 2 Put the HP 60 cartridge back into the HP printer. Print a test page when prompted.
  • 3 Take the cartridge out of the printer. Leave the tape on the contact that is already covered and also cover the top contact in the column at the far right, making sure no other contact gets covered in the process.
  • 4 Return the cartridge to the printer again. Print a test page.
5 Removethe cartridge from the printer again, remove the tape from the metal contacts, and return the cartridge to the printer. Print the test page and the printershould read the cartridge as full.

Can you remove the battery from an hp F4480 printer to make it ignore incompatible cartridge message

Unfortunately, this does not work.

With respect to the HP 60 cartridge error message ("Incompatible Print Cartridges") and inability to print with your HP Deskjet F4480 printer, this type of error is normally associated to an electrical connection issue between the printer and the cartridge, or more likely, an internal micro-electronic failure inside the cartridge itself (which is typical of the 'incompatible error' alert). These same failures can (and randomly do) occur with brand new ink cartridges.* To help identify the root cause, please run the 'Tap 41' cartridge's electrical / diagnostic tests below (refer to A. and B), this will identify which ink cartridge is causing the issue:

Please first verify the age of the ink cartridge(s)....look at imprinted date on front of ink cartridge. If this 'warranty expiration date' has expired, then potential internal electrical cartridge failures can occur due to internal corrosion, etc.

NOTE: Unfortunately, alignment pages and internal self test prints will usually print Ok even if the cartridge is internally electrically damaged. Do not use these test pages as a proxy for determining whether a cartridge is good or bad, only the 'Tap 41/43' diagnostic test report can yield this information.

As a temporary workaround, or if you are unable to determine which cartridge is causing the issue, remove one of the ink cartridges from the printer....this might place the printer into the 'single cartridge printer mode'....print jobs may then be executed from the computer (only):

An internal electrical failure of a cartridge can be confirmed by performing the following corrective/diagnostic steps:

A.Ensure BOTH carriage/flex cables and BOTH ink cartridge contacts are thoroughly clean before proceeding: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1519

B.Validate the cartridge's electrical health by running the 'Tap 41' diagnostics test. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TAP 41 video procedure at the following link on how to activate and read the service test:

http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=440 (HP 60 - Deskjet F2400/F4400/F4500 models)
1.While holding the Power button, press Cancel (X) button 4 times, then press the Color Copy button once.
    2.Release the Power button.
3.The 'Tap 41' diagnostic test print should print.

--- Providing the color cartridge is partially functioning the Tap 41 diagnostic test print will be printed (this is a forced service print test which is mainly used for the evaluation of ink cartridge electrical health). A good HP 60/60XL color cartridge should display 1248 good nozzles, while a good HP 60/60XL black ink cartridge should show 336 good nozzles. If the results yield anything different then the ink cartridge is likely damaged and will need to be replaced. Refer to 2nd video on how to read the printout.
        http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=440 (HP 60 - Deskjet F2400/F4400/F4500 models)
        http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=444 (HP 60 - Deskjet F4200 model)

---- If the printer attempts to print the diagnostic test pattern (1 page) then the printer is generally considered operational and functional, if nothing is printed, but the printer attempts to print the pattern, then the tri-color ink cartridge is either empty, clogged or severely electrically damaged (black ink cartridge is not used). You can remove the tri-color cartridge, reactivate the tap 41 test and the printer will print the diagnostic test print in black ink.

NOTE: To our team's knowledge there is no 'cartridge error bypass' method available for the HP Deskjet printer model. The cartridge will mostly likely need to be replaced with a new one.

I have an HP F4580 printer, and have just refilled both ink cartridges. However the printer won't allow me to print as it thinks the ink has gone. How can I reset my printer to display ink cartridge...

Often they have a chip mounted on the cartridge which monitors usage and when it determines that there is no ink remaining, it will disable the printer. Some companies sell compatible cartridges and reset the chip counter. But unless you reset the chip, even tho the cartridge is full of ink, the chip still disables the printer.

Some Hp printers, like Epson, require the cartridge to be reset. There is a chip on the cartridge that needs resetting.
This might work;
Place the HP 60 cartridge on a covered surface so that the metal contacts on the cartridge are facing you. Put tape over the top metal contact in the second column from the left-hand side, making sure the other contacts do not get covered. Put the HP 60 cartridge back into the HP printer. Print a test page when prompted. Take the cartridge out of the printer. Leave the tape on the contact that is already covered and also cover the top contact in the column at the far right, making sure no other contact gets covered in the process. Return the cartridge to the printer again. Print a test page. Remove the cartridge from the printer again, remove the tape from the metal contacts, and return the cartridge to the printer. Print the test page and the printer should read the cartridge as full.

I refilled HP 88 cartridge but printer (Officejet Pro L7590) still thinks cartridge is empty. How do I reset ink level?

Under the cartridge is a black like pump - on a new cartridge this is hard and rests firmly on an area inside your printer. As you print, the pump becomes softer - this is how the printer determines it is empty. Once refilled, the pump does not get back to the original state. Open the bottom of the cartridge and put a firm solid piece of folded paper in there - make sure it is steady and re-close cartridge. It will now read as full but may also show full - judge ink levels by the quality of print. Also make sure chip has not expired.

You cannot reset the ink level indicator for the HP 60 ink cartridge. It shouldn't matter anyway because the level is only estimated for "management purposes only" (see user manual) meaning to let you know when it's near time to order a new cartidge. I have tried cycling through 3 different cartridges to reset the ink level for the one I refilled but it didn't work. Refill and just ignore the ink level indicator. Also, it's a good idea to clean the print heads with the solvent in the refill kit before refilling to remove old ink and imrpove print quality.
