SOURCE: Eager ****** not so eager when it warms up!

If the chain locks up it may be to tight. Try loosening the chain and see if the same problem happens.

SOURCE: need an owner manual for mcculloch eager ****** 300s-16

You would pay the manual about the price of new saw. These are made in china and usually motor or the switch blows. Check that the voltage pass thru the switch and if so and it dont work, throw it away.

SOURCE: Gas, Oil Mix ratio for McCulloch Eager ******

Fuel/Oil Mixture

  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 8oz/2gal - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (Stihl 2.6oz/1gal)
  2. Most gas in the US of A contains ethanol; not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few months. Anything over 6 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH

SOURCE: mcculloch eager ****** no oil going to chain

The oiler pumps on Macs are the usual suspect, try this:
Oil System Plugged.

  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar) Clean the saw oiler hole and channel. Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up. If yes reassemble your saw. If no, continue with 2.
  2. Insert a blunted, hooked piece of wire through the oil filler hole and pull the hose in the oil tank out (clean or replace, difficult to determine serviceability). Work your way through the linkage cleaning and replacing any defective parts as you go. Carefully check the hoses for cracks especially at bends and connections. If equipped with an oil pump it is usually behind the clutch (clutch is a left handed thread). Please make extensive notes & some digital pictures will help during reassembly.
Build an IPL number like this:
McCulloch Manual
Illustrated Parts Lists: (IPLs) are fairly simple, on the underside of McCulloch saws is a black and yellow tag; the upper number (“Power Mac 320” 600021H) is the model, below it a serial number (11-18555). These 2 numbers are combined to create an IPL number (“Power Mac 320” IPL number = 11-600021H). The IPL number can be used to find the correct IPL for every McCulloch parts supplier I have found. If the parts supplier only list part numbers the proper IPL is the source for the part number.

If you can not find parts please repost with the IPL number and I will share my secret Mac parts source.

SOURCE: How to adjust carby settings after rebuilding. McCulloch Eager Be

Turn both jet needles CW to stops (lightly), then back out each CCW 1-1/2 turns. This is a basic setting that should allow the engine to start and run. Start the engine and allow to warm up, then pull throttle full on. Adjust H needle CW until the engine starts to speed up, but continues to 4-stroke. Proper setting is when the engine 4-strokes unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L needle CW for better idle, yet allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust idle speed screw so that the chain stops turning, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!

Mcculloch eager beaver chain saw

Hi Mike firstly check the air filter is clear and if so try putting some fresh gas where the spark plug goes into the block. If it fires its the gaskets on the carb. If it doesn't it's the gaskets on the block and it wont fire due to the compression being at fault.

If there is no spark with a new plug, then try dissconecting the earth cut out wire from the ignition unit, this will rule out the switch, or a trapped wire, if still no spark then it will be a replacment ignition unit, part no. 538219848

Looking for engine parts for an old mcculloch eager ****** weed eater. where can i find them? need to buy a new fuel tank and fuel lines

I assume you mean edger, not eager.
You must have the model number to find anything. You can go to the Mcculloch web site.
http://www.mcculloch.info/node1092.aspx
Here is an example of a parts list for one of their edgers maybe you're lucky and this is the one you need.

Where do I find a replacement chain for my McCulloch Eager ****** 2318av chain saw (model # 600038-12)?

Your friendly neighborhood chainsaw shop can fabricate one in about 5 minutes. Take your existing chain for use as pattern.

McCulloch.com
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/MCC/11-600038-12-EAGER-******-2316-SUPER-06%2F93-to-05%2F96-IPL-211318/139.11-600038-12-EAGER-******-2316-SUPER-06%2F93-to-05%2F96-IPL-211318.1.59.1.html
If original 18" bar.
part number(pn) MCC 21927533

Oregon Bar & Chain Selector (again original 18" bar)
http://www.oregonchain.com/commonpgm/Selguide_Selctmfg.asp?BusId=OCS&SellReg=USA&LangId=ENG&ShowRem=Y&ShowAnsi=Y&ShowQuality=Y&ShowCombo=Y&usertype=OCC
Your saw with 18" bar returns
Oregon pn 91VG060G.
This can be easily crossed to other manufacturers chain. You might consider a more aggressive chain (dependent on your level of expertise). HTH

Eager ****** McCulloch Chainsaw; Won't start when hot...

Loosen the fuel cap just before you shut it down. Close it just prior to restart. If that corrects it, there is a fuel vent problem. HTH
