Question about Fisher and Paykel Washing Machines

Have a F&P top load 7.5 kg Smartdrive washing maching. Have trouble getting good flow on cold water valve. Have recently changed 12V solenoid valve but no result. Cold water just dribbles thru on cold fill. What should I check next?

The washing machine is actually a Fisher & Paykel Smartdrive 608 top loader. I have checked the cold water hose filter basket and replaced the solenoid valve but water still just dribbles through. Water pressure is fine. Since the solenoid is new and the sympton is persisting, I'm wondering if the problem may originate from the main control module. For example reduced voltage supply to the 12V solenoid??
    Would appreciate your help.
    Thanks. engineer1946

A strainer before the inlet valve can also get stopped up restricting flow.
It should be in the rubber hose where it connects to the water supply. If that's not it swap the hoses on the hot and cold and see if each valve is opening.

The water supply hoses have a rubber gasket with a screen in them to keep sediment from entering the washing machine from your water supply.
Be sure to turn the water supply off at the hose bib, and disconnect the hose and visually check the screen.
These rubber washers/screens are readily available at your local hardware store.

Have checked the screen filters and all clear but problem still existst. Solenoid valve just doesn't seem to open fully even though it's new. It is a non original 12V solenoid valve bought on line from an appliance spares company in Australia. Could be that it's incorrectly rated. I read somewhere that F&P cold and hot solenoids are 12V & 24V but can't remember which is which. However valve was advertised as universal for either hot or cold water. BTW I misquoted washing machine model. It's a Smartdrive 608 with 6.5Kg load capacity.

    Regards

My Samsung 7.5kg top load washing machine is over filling..is there a sensor or something to correct this

yes
it is connected to the bottom of the tub by a small hose
it sits up top and as the tub fills , air pressure acts against a preset spring tension and switches the water solenoids off at the same time it starts the wash
the problem is probably the water inlet solenoid / valve that is not working or the diaphragm is split
to test , change over the cold and hot water hoses at the taps and press the hot water button
if the flow stops at the required setting it is the cold water valve unit

I only have a hose attached to the cold water tap and inlet valve of my Fischer & Paykel top loader washing machine as I only do cold washes, this hadn't been a problem until recently, when th

it could be that the water level got to high and came out of the valve you could try putting a cap on the valve and see if that works and if it does not then it might be a bigger issue.

No water flow on Fisher and Paykel smartdrive 708 washing machine

Take the lid off, just open it & pull it straight up.There should be a little red button that the lid strikes against unless its a different model,in that case it has a magnetic reed switch under the right hand side of the hob.press this red switch instead of closeing lid,see if it fill with no problem.the lid may not be making good contact with switch..if thats not it then it may be the inlet valve..then you can try the hot,if theres no problem with hot then its the cold valve.

Washing machine cycle far too long

Hi Fiona.I believe the cold valve is probably faulty & is not flowing fast Its probably dribbling water in?taking forever to fill.the machine should be giving up & beeping at you if thats the case.If you have a faulty cold valve then switching to warm won't help as the hot valve will close itself off to compensate for the lack of cold water..afterall you have told the machine to fill with warm,,if it cant make warm water because of a faulty cold valve then the hot will decrease to a point where its not letting any water thru..try a hot only wash..if it goes thru wash cycle ok then good chance its cold valve problem.wow i hope that helped.

Hi. My smartdrive 6.5 kg top load washer pushes cold water up the hot water line while it is filling up. I don't use hot water. thank you

on your machine when you select cold, the hot water valve will open automatically letting cold water thru it.can you connect the hot hose up to a tap to stop the water leaking out? or you can buy a screw on plug from a hardware shop that will cap off the valve at the machine or the hose. sometimes to save a customer money i connect their hot hose to the hot valve then fold the hot hose in half and tape it in that position . this stops the water. hope this helps. please reply for further help if you need it

Try taking the cold hose of at the tap and check to see if has a little mesh filter in there. This could be blocked up with gunk.

Washing maching won't rinse in cold water

hi is this hot and cold water piped machine? ie two connections on rear of machine for hot and cold pipes ? if so are your pipes connected properly on machine and the water supplies? if cold supply is connected to hot supply then wash inlet allows water in washer then washes in cold? but when rinse is due? the elec valve that has hot water pipe connected?? is failing to open allowing water flow of hot on rinse so advise recheck pipes for flow of water from both? when disconnected from machine if flow ok then possible valve blocked/faulty hope you can understand above? if you can give more info on your machine it would help to offer a remedy?

Maytag top loading washer

turn tap on---- sorry I thought it Funny

water flow is controlled by solenoid valves attached to inside rear wall of washer.
usually cold water fails first by the most use.
they are simple to replace, can be ordered from local store by model number or by pulling the old one off and taking it in, everybody has them, mnaytag fitsd kenmore fits whirlpool fits just about all.

If only the cold water solenoid has failed, to get the washer going, for use (the result will be cold water wash only)

open the rear panel
locate the 2 solenoid valves, trace the water lines in to the first !+~3inch diameter electrical gadgets, those gadgets are the solenoids.
swap the power cables between the solenoids
put the back -back on
swap the hose connections on the taps
now the burned out solenoid is in the hot water line, and cold water is available for wash and rinse.
If you buy a replacement solenoid then swap cables and hose back. but second solenoid will proobably last as long as first did as long as you dont mind cold water only
