Question about HP Compaq nc6000 Notebook
This is an issue with the motherboard that is a known error. There is a chip on the motherboard called a MAX1987 chip that has solder problems and comes loose. You may try some gentle pressure on teh backspace delete keys as you press the power button and see if that lets it boot... sometimes this pressure will make the solder connection reconnect TEMPORARILY.. next time you shut down or remove the pressure it will go off. Its a microsolder so the fix is not a cheap one and has to be done by certified tech. Its less expensive to replace the laptop at this point...You can google MAC1987 chip and NC6000 and it will give you details about this. I do believe there is a class action going on about it.
