Question about Clarion APX480M Car Audio Amplifier
I have a Clarion APX480M marine amp in my boat powering four clarion speakers, and a bridged 10'' subwoofer (factory installed). The system worked flawlessly until this spring, when it began cutting in and out intermittently. The input from the receiver is constant, which leads me to believe that the problem is with the amp. It cuts out all speakers at once, but the green LED power light stays on throughout. I've considered that it could be the thermal protection circuit, but it seems to come and go so frequently that I wonder if that's really the issue. Any suggestions?
Try to unplug each speaker one by one while playing it. There can be a defective speaker that grounds out at the speaker terminal or internally causing the amp to go into protection causing all the speakers to go out.
