First you should lower the screen resolution for security or extra precaution purpose or it may so happen that after replacing the monitor - display will not come or will give out of frequency error. Shut down the PC - disconnect the system from power. remove the data cable (generally blue colored plug attached behind the cabinet). Remove the power cable and remove the old monitor. Put the new monitor at proper place - attach the data cable(blue) behind the cabinet from where the previous data cable plug was removed. Give power to the (replaced) monitor. Start the PC. now increase the resolution if required.
