Question about Iomega (33600) 160 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive
My hard drive worked fine until somehow corruption occurred. Now it does not recognize the hard drive. It says no power. The light briefly comes on as soon as I connect USB to my computer (several - desk top, laptop and office) and then it goes out. My computer or explorer act as if there is nothing in that drive. Please help
There might be two problems.
1. There is a boot sector virus due to which autoexe in your hdd is unable to execute hence your Operating system is unable to recognise the hdd. Solution, take it to a linux PC if you yourself don't know how to use linux then take the help of peer and ask him to connect your hdd and use mount command and then mk2fs command to format it. In linux exe virus can't do anything hence your hdd will be recognised and it will work again on windows after format from linux.
2. there might be hardware issue with your hdd the connector which connects to your hdd has gone bad. take an electronic cleaner spray it on the connecting home and clean it properly and then try to connect it to windows pc. If not then you have to replace the connector. These connectors are quite delicate which are on your hdd. while unplugging the wire from hdd if you are not gentle then they do go bad. My suggestion is don't remove the wire from hdd always keep it connected to the hdd. Only remove the udd from usb which you connect to pc.

The problem is that the hard drive as been affected by virus and will need to be scan for virus, in other for it to be virus free. scan the hard drive with a license and active anti-virus to ensure the removal of the virus.
If after scanning the problem still persist, am afraid to tell you that, the only way out is to get the hard drive formatted, this way, you will lose all the files in the hard drive, but i advice you scan the hard drive for virus to ensure it is virus free.

Tips for a great answer:
Jul 08, 2011 | Seagate 500GB FreeAgent GoFlex Hard Drive
My computer does not recognize the Fanton titanium drive. It was working properly for last 2 years and contains and all of a sudden I cannot see it's drive location once I connect it to multiple computers in my household.
I suspect that one of my teenagers "moved" a file instead of copying it and somehow corrupted the file structure. By the way, I have already tried to see if it is a problem that can be fixed by assigning a drive using Disk MGMT. It is not recognized there either.
