Hi,
Connect your bluray in HDMI input of your tv to get maximum picture resolution of bluray.
Plug HDMI cable in HDMI Out at rear of bluray player and hook it in HDMI Input of tv, turn On tv then bluray, select HDMI Input in tv with its remote and tv will show you bluray logo screen, put disc in bluray and play it by pressing play button. HDMI is proper input port to give maximum resolution 1080 picture in tv.
Component Video (red-green-blue RCA jacks) and Composite Video (yellow RCA jack) are low resolution connection setup.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

That is how the system is currently connected. But it doesnt seem to show as clearly as I have seen it in stores. It's a very clear picture but not the blu-ray I've seen. That is why I thought the tv may not be set to 1080P? Is that possible?

HDMI connection is intelligent setup and adjust itself for picture resolution as per source video.
Please check bluray menu if it is set on bit lower resolution, change it to HD mode.

Blu-ray player mode not supported

Is your TV 1080p? If the Blu-Ray is putting out 1080p and your TV only supports 720p/1080i then you will get a message like this. Try changing your settings to 720p while it is connected to a TV that does display correctly, then move it back to the 47 in LCD.

I want ot change my LG television Model 47LH40 to 1080p using my LG remote

1080p video resolution can only be achieved by a Blu-ray Disc. Satellite TV, broadcast TV, cable TV do not actually send out 1080p resolution. So unless you are using a Blu-ray movie, you will not be viewing 1080p. Your HDTV has a NATIVE screen resolution and the TV will SCALE all incoming video to its native resolution. Most people cannot tell the difference between 720p and 1080i. 1080p signal sources are slightly sharper. But if you have a HDTV that is 1080p capable and you give it a 1080p source (Blu-ray Disc) and use a HDMI cable to connect, you will get 1080p, you do not have to change the HDTV as it will automatically display 1080p.

I have a VL470M and am trying to connect a LGBD570 Blu-Ray through HDMI. It works fine through the composite input, but the HDMI says "no signal". Am I doing something wrong?

There are two possible issues. 1) The resolutions are mismatched. (output of the player and input of the TV) 2) the player can not confirm that the TV supports HDCP over the HDMI connection. Only 3 of the 4 HDMI ports are HDCP (high def copy protection) compatible.

Try a different HDMI port and make sure that you have the input set to the correct HDMI port. (There is an input button on the side of the TV as well as on the remote.)

The easiest things to check are turn off the Blu-Ray player and then turn it on again. Then press the Home button and navigate to the Setup Menu. Select Display and press the right arrow button, then select Resolution and press Enter. Then set the desired resolution and press Enter to confirm the selection. (Your TV should support 1080p from the Blu-ray player.) Then turn off the player since changing the resolution can lead to video issues.

I hope this helps.

Invalid format error with P1600 blu-ray and LG LCD TV 42"

It may be a firmware issue if hdmi works with other items such as playstation.
If no hdmi the main Pcb hdmi ports are bad and the main Pcb would have to be replaced.

Consumers cannot upgrade the firmware so a shop would be the only option.

Cant figure out to hook up keeps saying no signal with hdmi cable to tv and blu ray put in

What kind of TV are you hooking the dvd player up to ? You may have to go into the TVs menu and set the input to the proper resolution or input style to see a picture. The dvd outputs a 1080i and if the TV is set to 720p it may not show a picture, the dvd output can also be changed to match the TV.

Change the frame rate on your tv to 60hd, that should solve it. Basically, your tv might be set to theater mode which is playing 24hd..
