Question about Sharp PG-F211X Projector

1 Answer

The picture is strange, almost like a negative image, color blotches, etc. Thats about the best I can describe it. Any thoughts?

Well, it narrows it down. Basically though, I am to take it to an authorized repair place, and quit trying to figure out if some setting on the machine needs adjusting.

In reality these are very sophisticated devices, and although some problems can be attended to, most really should be attended to by a professional. So, it is nearly always my professional opinion that one should always get a "Quote" from the manufacturers recommended service center, Sharpe in your case, please contact a local or head office and ask for a referral to an Authorised service center. I cannot stress how important that last point is. It is even worth the cost of shipping. You see an authorised service agent, will have trained staff, trained on their brand, also they have first hand access to parts, original parts. This will actually save you money and ensure you can actually get it back fixed. Of course asking for a "Quote" also gives on the option of repair or replace

TV has color bloches at corners

Assuming this is a tube style TV (not lcd flatscreen) your degausing coil in your TV sounds like it is defective . The Degaussing coil on newer televisions / monitors surrounds the outside edge of the TV and turns on when the TV is fired up. In the old days, their used to be no degaussing coil - when a child would take a magnet to a CRT television, magnetism would remain on the tube and cause discoloration and blotches as you describe (multi-colored blotches) To correct this a technician used to use a degausassing coil and perform a circular pattern on the screen to remove the improper magnetized area. Since the old days, newer tvs have degauss coils built into them, but if they go bad, or always on etc... they can cause the problem you describe.

Try doing this.....

Turn the camera on and in picture taking mode press menu. Go to the 3rd tab (setup) and then go down to reset. Press right and make sure ok is highlighted and press the select button. Then try taking some more pictures and see if that helps. If not then that would be something that would have to be sent in for repairs.

I have an LCD TV. All of a sudden the picture colour has gone wierd. The best way to describe it is that it is similar to either a colour negative or one of those scientific 'false colour' images. This...

TFTs can produce a wide array of colors, but it takes an enormous number of transistors to make up a display, and a problem with any one of them creates a defective pixel on the screen. Typically this shows up as a bright spot on a dark background, caused by a damaged TFT failing to turn off a pixel. Most active matrix displays contain a few bad pixels, but a few bad pixels are not going to have much of an impact on the overall picture.
The properties of liquid crystal material can create problems with viewing angle effects, causing the image to darken, disappear, or reverse the dark and light tones when the viewer is not directly in front of the display (kind of like looking at the negative of a photo). The light bulbs make LCDs heavier than the plasma TVs (though they are still lightweights compared to CRT televisions.
Benefits of LCD TVs include a picture that can't burn in and doesn't deteriorate over time. Because of their flat-panel nature, placement options are plentiful, optimizing the cool factor over standard TVs
