Slow computer is caused by a build up of junk and stuff running in the back ground.

Get CClean from http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download to start to fix this problem ...

UNload stuff you dont use ... clear it fromthe startup menu

CMOS is not involved in this problem in any fashion

If it has more than one piece of RAM try booting after taking one out and swapping them out. Other than that there is a good chance the motherboard is bad.

Would appreciate if you would add more detail.

Basically, there is also a "beep" code, the problem persisting occors to be your motherboard. This can happen sometimes if the unit has been knocked and the motherboard or a piece of hardware is damaged or the motherboard is too old and needs replacing.- hope this peice of info was helpfull.

My acer pc is not booting properly

there maybe faulty installed hardware on your PC. remove those hardware like sound & video card (if any), PCI modem, CD/DVD ROM, etc. turn on your PC without those hardware & if/ there's nothings change?..it means that there is no wrong with your PC's hardware. turn the PC off, re insert IDE & power supplies cable of your hard disk drive to make it sure that the HDD is properly connected & being detect by the system. remove the memory card and clean or wipe the connector surface of the RAM with tissue paper. (change new memory card if needed). check the mother board C-MOS 3 volts battery if it is volts sufficiently .turn your desktop on & wait for good results.( Reformatting your OS is also recommended.)GOOD LUCK!

When i start my laptop it goes to a screen an says enter boot disk an press any key..but i dont have a disk...

Sounds like your system is booting from somewhere other than the hard drive or you have a music cd or movie dvd in the DvD/CD drive when you booted the laptop. If so, remove the music cd or movie dvd and reboot.
You want it to boot from the hard drive.

Turn the computer off and press the power button to reboot it. Notice the screen and watch for which key it says to hit to change the Boot Order or Boot Sequence. You have to hit that key when you see the message otherwise it will be to late and you will need to start over. Select the Hard Drive and let it boot up. This is a temporary change and only good for this boot cycle. You'll have to do it each time you boot or you can make it permanent.

To set your boot order or boot sequence permanently reboot the computer and look at the screen to hit the key it says to get into the Bios or System Setup. Hit that key when you see the message or it will be too late and you will have to restart it. When you get into the Bios or System Setup tab over to the Boot Order or Boot Sequence. The normal boot order should be the DvD/CD drive 1st, the Hard Drive 2nd. With this setting you have to make sure nothing is in the DvD/CD drive when you boot the system or it will try to read it as a system disk and give you an error if it can't boot from it. If there is nothing in the DvD/CD drive it moves to the next boot device which is the Hard Drive. This setting is the best because it will allow you to use a Repair Disk or Operating System Disk to fix your computer when the hard drive has issues.

My computer (3.0 GHz Pentium 4 with Asus P4P800-E Deluxe mobo) will boot to the POST screen, and it successfully identifies all of my hardware (memory, hard disk, DVD-ROM drive, etc.), but then won't...

Checked your RAM chips? Remove them and boot up and see if it will beep. If you have another DVD drive, swap it and try again. The board battery rarely goes, and only change it when it is not keeping the date/time etc, it won't help in outputting video.

I have a Boot Problem with my INTEL P4 3.0Ghz. 800Mhz FSB,1M L2 Cache, Socket 478 CPU

I have experienced something similar with my new Core2Duo processor and a fairly new Socket 775 processor. Troubleshooting it led me to believe the CPU simply wasn't compatible with the motherboard. Although it's a shot in the dark, I suggest that you try out some of the following: - Did you try pulling out the graphics card to see if you got it to POST then? The graphics card or the monitor may need replacing. - Did you remove the RAM? - Are you sure all cables are attached properly? - Try to take out the CPU, talk to a friend with a socket 478 motherboard and replace his CPU with your CPU. Does it work now? If yes, motherboard needs to be replaced.
