Question about Whirlpool Gold GW399LXU Gas Range

1 Answer

Have a whirlpool accubake gas range. The code PF is displayed as well as the time on the clock. However there is power to the unit but none of the oven controls including trying to change the clock will work. Have unplugged it for a time and then retried but no luck. Any suggestions?

You will need to replace the control board. To access the board. unplug the unit and remove the cover on the back of the console. Here is that part you need to order.

What does PF stand for

On my range, it means that there was a power failure. Just press Off/Cancel to clear the message. Reset the clock if needed.

If this is happening frequently, check the wiring and the control board itself. (Sometimes a power failure will be preceded or followed by a power surge that can damage the electronics of the control board. Lightning strikes are a common cause of the surge. If a surge has damaged the board, the control board will need to be replaced. Depending on the color of your range, this is a $130 to $300+ part.)

I hope this helps. Please add a comment if other errors are being displayed or have recently been displayed.

I am getting E0 -F2- error on my Whirlpool Gold Accubake oven display. If I press cancel it sometimes will start but has been working less and less. The range is quite old and I do not have a manual. What...

Shorted keypad (also called touch pad)
1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).

I am getting a PF code - I have a self cleaning - accubake system electric silver with black top and sides - not sure how old the oven is

Hi,

the "PF" simply indicates at some point the power to the unit failed, hence the "PF" (power failure). turn the range breaker off for a minute or two, or unplug it for said amount of time. after that if you push the cancel bottun on the control it should go away, then you can set the time of day/clock etc.

If that doesn't get it right, make another post on here and we'll go from there.

hopefully it's that simple :)

good luck

Whirlpool Accubake is displaying a PF code...should I buy it?

It appears your clock assembly has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Power Failure in gas range during use

sounds like a power issue for sure, check your outlet that its plug into(run an extension from another outlet to be sure), perhaps a loose wire on control board behind unit. PF is inicator that power failure has occured. check your manual oerhaps a 5 year warr on electronics(might be a short in clock itself)
