Question about Mitsubishi HC3000U Multimedia Projector

2 Answers

Mitsubishi hc3000 just turned off while we were watching. It tries to turn back on with the usual whirring sound(Fan?) but then makes a couple of clicking noises and fails to go on. Just goes to red constant with green blinking light. New lamp about a month ago.

It's getting power. Like I mentioned it sounds like usual startup(spinning sound like a hard drive on a computer), but then an unusual clicking then nothing just constant red w/ green status.

Can you tell me how to check the fuse? Where is it located?

Where can I access the fuse?

Power steady red with green flashing status light. Manual just tells you to hit power button when status stops blinking. This just starts the process again. The tv seems to be trying to start up normally(fans start power light comes on), but then thats when I hear that light clicking sound and the red with green flashing starts.

Check your bulb. That was my problem. Even thought the new bulb was only about 30 days old, it was toast. I also discovered that the bad bulb was a generic. Buy the philips brand oem bulb. It has worked flawlessly!

My trouble was a bad bulb. Even though it was only about 30 days old. Don't buy the generic brand, get the philips oem bulb.

Have you cleaned the filter. The lights do provide an indication if you look in the troubleshooting guide in the manual.

if it was the fuse you would get lights etc. Fuse is inside the unit, remove the cover look around where you plug the power cord to the projector. Typically they put ceramic fuses and you will need a volt meter to check if it's good or bad. or just buy the same characteristics fuse and swap it and turn it on. If you could tell me what color are the lights blinking and what are the locations i.e. lamp, power, etc. i can look these up to tell what is the issue.

The clicking sound could be the HV spark gap firing which means if you put in a good lamp the projector will work, but you have changed your lamp. I don't think it's your ballast because of the clicking sound but it may be a possibility. You can sometimes check the operation of the ballast by removing the lamp, replacing the cover and trying to turn it on. You should hear a faint tick, tick, tick, This is the HV spark gap firing.

Unit turns on but fan does not work. When we turn unit on, it makes a low "whirring" sound, but no air comes out of unit.

Try turning fan by hand. If it turns easy, replace fan capacitor.
If hard to turn, replace motor.

I have a mitsubishi WD-57731 57 In. DLP. When I power it up I get no or video it makes a whirring light clicking electrical sound in the back. The timer indicator flashes green for like 20 secs or so when...

The whirring is the fan. The clicking is the spark gap on the ballast releasing the unspent voltage trying to fire on your lamp.

Check your lamp; it may be unseated (unlikely) or just blown/bad (likely).

Loud whirring. Not the fan.

The fan noise is normal on this set. The lamps are cooled via this method. Your users manual explains this issue..and it is the fan as you can see it slows down after the tv is switched off..

Whirring noise. No other problems.

Sounds like you have a noisy color wheel. Very common on all Samsung DLP`s. The part # is BP96-00250A for model HLN5065W.
