Boot cd acer AX3400-B3802

What operating system is on this machine ?
What do yo see after booting up ?
1. If it is not booting up and you do not see the selftest screens and it gives a number of beeps then shuts down: count the number of beeps, that can tell you what is wrong.
2.If it is finding a harddrive but then gives a black screen which says something like "operating system not found, insert disk" or "grub error, run grub recovery" then you might need a cd or usb drive to boot from.

You might try Acer's e-recovery if you had that on your computer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2xoMEPfiPQ

Else look here for Win 7 answer:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1751047/copy-boot-disk-win.html
Note on the link to Microsoft the answer of Andre da Costa.
At a friends computer:
1. download the iso
2. burn a cd disk using the program Imgburn as Andre says.

Then run it on your computer:
NB. you might first need to change the boot order in the BIOS, press DEL or F10 (the right button is displayed during the selftest on screen somewhere) find BOOT ORDER or POWER UP ORDER in the BIOS and put CD drive in first position

Look here for what to do:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-are-system-recovery-options#what-are-system-recovery-options=windows-7
open the 3rd option:
To open the System Recovery Options menu using the Windows 7 installation disc or a USB flash drive, or a system repair disc.

If you have reinstalled the operating system and Microsoft Genuine Check gets bothering you: call Microsoft support and explain that you had to reinstall due to harddrive failure, you will be given a new key for your windows. I have done so several times after hardware failures and reinstalling, they always have given me a new key. But you will have to make clear it was due to hardware failure, f.i. new motherboard, harddrive failure.

Hi ourkiddys...
How to reinstall the Operating system on your computer

Select models, with Microsoft Windows, have the ability to have the Operating System reinstalled from a hidden partition built into the computer.Note: During the process, all data stored on your computer will be overwritten. This means all your files, such as email and photos, will be erased. Therefore, we recommend making a backup of all personal data before starting the recovery process.
To start the system recovery:
1.Restart the computer.
2.When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
3.If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
4.After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase the set online from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form..
Note: If your computer does not have an internal optical disc drive, an external optical disc drive will be required in order to recover the Operating System using Acer Recovery Media.
1.Restart the computer.
2.When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
3.Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
4.Close the CD-ROM tray.
5.Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
6.The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media
7.When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.

Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.

8.After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
Note: if your computer is unable to run the Acer Recovery process, or errors occur during recovery, please contact Acer support.
Please take time to rate me

by default the hard drive should have a recovery partition. go to the support section of the manufactures website and you should find detailed instructions of how to boot to the partition. if that option has been corrupted, you can purchase a recovery disc directly from acer. i've ordered nearly a hundred for customers in the past and have never paid more than 20.00 for a disc or disc set.

below you will find a link that will allow you to enter your product serial number and direct you to the purchase of a factory recovery cd/dvd.

Aspire M1100 boot up problem

Method 1

Edit the Boot.ini file to restore or correct the Default entry and to ensure that the other entries in the [Operating Systems] section of the Boot.ini file point to the appropriate directories.

Method 2

Use the Bootcfg utility in the Recovery Console to correct the Boot.ini file:

1. Use the Windows XP CD-ROM to start your computer.
2. When you receive the message to press R to repair Windows by using the Recovery Console, press the R key.
3. Select the Windows installation that you want, and then type the administrator password when prompted.
4. Type bootcfg /rebuild, and then press ENTER.
5. When the Windows installation is located, the following instructions are displayed:
Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All)
[Type Y in response to this message.]

Enter Load Identifier:
[This is the name of the operating system. Type Windows XP Professional or Windows XP Home Edition.]

Enter OS Load options:
[Leave this field blank, and then press ENTER].
After you perform the preceding steps, restart the computer, and then select the first item on the boot menu. This should allow Windows XP to start normally.

After Windows XP has successfully loaded, the Boot.ini can be modified to remove the incorrect entry.

Method 3

1. Start the computer by using your Windows XP CD-ROM. Press any key to boot from the CD.
2. After the setup files are finished loading press R to repair using Recovery Console.
3. When you are in the recovery console, select the installation to log on to (usually number 1), and then press ENTER.
4. Login to the Administrator account by typing the password for this account, and then press ENTER.
5. At the recovery console command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

For Uni-Processor systems:
expand <cd-drive>:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ <hd-drive>:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
For Multi-Processor systems:
expand <cd-drive>:\i386\ntkrnlmp.ex_ <hd-drive>:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
Note In these two commands, the <cd-drive> placeholder represents the drive letter of your CD drive, and the <hd-drive> placeholder represents the drive letter of the hard disk on which windows is installed.
6. If you receive a prompt to overwrite the file, press Y.
7. Type exit, and press ENTER at the command prompt.

Method 4
Start the computer by using the Recovery Console, and then run theCHKDSK /rcommand.

Note You do not have to include the /p switch in the Chkdsk command-line because the /r switch causes the Chkdsk utility to locate bad sectors and recover readable information. This command implies the /p switch..

Acer Desktop won't boot after recovery

Why not use your new hard drive as a storage disc. Reconnect your old hard drive as it was before. Hopefully it will boot the computer again. If it does, shut down the unit. On the primary bus, set your old HD as master & the new HD as slave with jumpers. Boot the unit & hopefully you will now have a "c"&"d" HD showing in My Computer. Remember that your are dealing with Windows & what should happen & what really happens can be two entirely different things.

what i would do is go into dos. If you cant get into dos find a windows 98 setup disk 3.5" this will have the dos files that will allow the computer to reconize a generic cd rom. This should allow you to get your recovery disk working. Your software problem could of created a firmware problem also. Not reconizing the cd rom. This solution will provide the basics to get your cd rom loading the recovery disk for you. If you have questions or more problems feel free to contact me and i will take you through it step by step
