Question about Mtd Garden
I need to replace a deck pulley spindle assembly for one of the blades on an older ranch king(mtd) model# 136G699G205 serial# 2A196C30042
This is a 42 inch cut ride on lawn tractor.
How do I know which spindle assembly to order before I take it out?
It's raining and I can't work on it until it stops raining, but I would like to order the part now. I'm pretty sure it's a - 917-0906A spindle from looking at a diagram on the net, but I need to be sure. Is there a part# on the spindle?
If you have a owners manual it will tell you but if not go to your computer punchin make model and a choice of sites will come up also sears parts direct will help u on the phone or enter your modle make and a parts list will come up good luck hope this helps.

I have the exact same model MTD tractor with same problem. It began when the bolt that extends through the idler arm assembly broke and subsequently damaged the pulley. Upon examination of the broken bolt, I found that the threaded end that extends below the deck is significantly smaller that the rest of the bolt. I got a larger bolt with the same size threads, bored out the hole through the deck and it made the whole idler assembly much stronger. the deck still has some vibration and some unusual belt harmonics, but it appears to be working. Compared to most other tractors of this size, this deck is very complicated.
