First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.24422300&pathTaken=partSearch

It has diagrams of all major components and their relationships.

Next, see the following for how to release the console and remove the cabinet if necessary.

Basically, if you snap off the end caps, you should see a phillips head screw on each end of the console.

Remove the screw, pull the console to the front and up.

Check your lid switch. This is the most common cause of the problem you are experiencing. Symptoms may include, filling and stopping on the intial fill cycle, a wash tub that will not drain, and stopping right after the wash cycle and not advancing to rinse or spin cycles.

The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

On some models, the lid switch is located under the top casing by one of the lid hinges. You will know if you if you have this type of switch, because It does not have a lid strike and the small hole on the right hand side of the wash tub will not be present. This switch is actuated (toggled) by a rod on the lid hinge. With this type of switch, if you locate it and it can be toggled by hand, you may only need to adjust the actuator by bending it slightly.

A replacement lid switch (if required) can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

The average price is about $20 - $30 if you perform the repair yourself. Prices differ between sites so shop and compare. The part number for a replacement for your washer is 3949247.

NOTE: You DO NOT need to drain the washer to replace the lid switch. Once a defective switch is replaced, the washer will drain.

If you have questions, or need additional assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope this information is helpful.

Kenmore mod 23832100 Lid Switch broken HOw do I

Good day,
There are 3 different style lid switches used on Whirlpool/Kenmore washers. You have to break down the unit to determine which one you use. Any appliance parts house will carry what you need.
Here is an excellent tutorial.

Machine stops when it gets to spin mode

This sounds like the lid switch is bad, or needs adjusted. In the center of the lid, on the rear of the lid, there is a little "nubby" that pushes on the switch. Make sure it clicks when the lid is closed. If not, try pushing back on the lid a little to get it to click. If it does, the switch needs adjusted. If not, it may need replaced. If this helps, please rate my answer. Thank you. If it doesn't help, we will take it further and try and get you fixed up.

Likely, the lid switch needs position adjustment or replacement. Open the top cover to access the switch. Connect the two switch wires together and tie up so that they can't short out to anything, then run the machine a couple of times to see if this fixes the primary problem. If so, reconnect the wires, then try the switch adjustment for fix, then replace the switch if adjustment fails.

Waher dont work

Check the top lid interlock switch. If the switch is bad or out of adjustment, the washer will not agitate or spin. This is a safety feature so no one can reach inside while the machine is running. To check if the switch is working, open the lid and SLOWLY close it,going as slow as possible when the lid is almost closed. Just before the lid "hits bottom", you should hear a CLICK sound. This is the lid switch actuating. If you do not hear the click, the lid interlock switch needs replacement or adjustment.
