I have a Toshiba TLP-B2ultraS E projector. It has a brand new lamp. It powers up ok and the lamp comes on. A timer appears on the screen with 0H 3M 30S on it (which I assume is the lamp timer countdown from the old lamp). The lamp goes off again after a few minues at which time the 'on' and 'lamp' buttons are red (as if the machine thinks the lamp needs replacing). The manual says to reset the "lamp timer" after changing the lamp but does not provide instructions for doing this. The Toshiba site has nothing about this. There is nothing in the menu system about resetting the lamp timer. I looked online and found a suggestion as follows: 1. Turn off the power. 2. Hold down:"on", "Menu" and "input" at the same time. 3. Turn on power. 4. Wait until power light comes on. 5. Release I have done this and it did not work.

OK please find above, your service manual above, this will allow you to troubleshoot and repair your projector. This has much more information than the user manual, however you do need both. You may not have the correct sequence of keys? Or perhaps you may need to do it several times? Anyway please have a look in the service manual, this should help a great deal, and should help you fix it. Otherwise I suggest that you contact Toshiba support, and ask for a referral to an authorised service center, then contact, them, and ask for a 'Quote" for the repair, or even ask, to speak to the Service manager, and ask for advice with regard to your issue, you will often find they are very accommodating with help..

Thanks very much for this answer. The technical manual tells me what I need to solve this problem - which is the 'adjustment software'. The file name of the software is TLPB2S.EXE. I can't seem to find this anywhere online. Can you suggest somewhere I could source this software so I can finally solve this problem.......thanks again.....

The procedure you followed to reset is not proper,
I will explain you the exact procedure again:--
1) Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
2) Turn the main power switch to the "On" position.
3) Press and hold the "On/Standby," "Menu" and "Input" buttons at the same time. Please note that the buttons are on the projector. Though the same buttons are found on the remote control, the reset only works with the buttons on the projector.

4) Plug the power cord back into the outlet while holding the buttons in Step 3. The lamp timer will reset when the projector receives power.

Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

THanks. I assume your reference to the 'on' switch is the 'on' switch on the wall power outlet as there is no seperate 'on' switch on the unit itself. Assuming that this is right then I have done this precisely as you have instructed and I still have the same issue. Please help......

Try this:

-Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
-Turn the main power switch to the "On" position.
-Press and hold the "On/Standby," "Menu" and "Input" buttons (on the projector) at the same time. Without releasing the buttons, plug the power cord back into the power outlet.

THanks for your answer. As I said in my original question, I have tried this solution and it did not work.....

  • Anonymous Jun 05, 2010

Your steps is showing turning the power off only and not unplugging the unit from power outlet.

My solution requires you to completely unplug the unit from the power outlet and the switch is ON. The ON switch and ON button are not the same. ON switch is the main power supply of the projector, ON button is the one on top of the projector, also used as STANDBY button.

Thanks - this did not work either. Any other suggestions?

  • Anonymous Jun 05, 2010

Try this one. It works on some Toshiba projector but I haven't personally tested the process.

Thanks for persevering with this. This solution does not work either. I don't think its meant for my machine which does not have numbers on the unit, the remote or the menu system. I have looked at every item on the menu system and there is no item that deals with resetting the lamp timer.....help:(

This works on other model but is not tested with TLP series.

Turn on your projector. When light on the projector is steady and ready

-PRESS and HOLD the "up arrow" on the REMOTE. Wait until you hear a beep (takes 30secs or more).

-As soon as you hear a beep, PRESS and HOLD "down arrow" on the REMOTE.
Wait until you hear another beep. (takes 30secs or more)

NOTE: beeps can be enable and disable in the projector menu. Make sure it is turned on or enabled.

Sorry - this didn't work either......

This works on a couple different Toshiba models -- might work on yours...

Make sure the main power switch is OFF. Hold the "ON", "MENU", and "INPUT" buttons at the same time and turn the main power switch on. Keep them held until the yellow power standby light comes on, then let go. It is done.
