Either the cable is defective, or the scsi device, or you just need reinstalling scasi driver we need more details on your hardware

If you get the message and you do not use a scsi Hard disk or cdrw then you must set up the akai for using the correct storage device (eg. zip drive or ata HDD)
If you have a scsi cdrw, then the cd drivr is probably faulty, just replace the cd with one in compatibility list.
If you are using your AKAI with a scsi hard disk then it lost connection to the hard drive. Could be a misplaced cable , or the hard drive that is gone. You need to pull out the hard drive and test it with a computer and a scsi card, eventually recovering the data inside.
If you have to replace HDD you need to get one within the compatibility list here.

If you cannot do it yourself, any skilled computer repairman should be able to do do the job with the right info (you can pass a printout of this solution) , in this case find a service in your area, it should not be an expensive repair.

How to use Toshiba Media Player

Is the USB drive able to be read on your PC / Laptop ?

It COULD be that the USB drive has been 'Formatted' (made ready to receive files) but not in the 'FAT32' mode. It WILL say so in your TV manual.
PCs can read all format USB sticks but TVs are fussy and generally only work if the USB stick is formatted 'FAT32' and not 'NTFS' (which it probably is.
1) Put the stick in your PC - right click on it from 'my computer.'
2) Format the USB drive with FAT32,
3) Reload the stick from your PC with the photos.
4) Plug it in your TV.

It will be fine.

My dual wont play cds or dvds

its simple to see where is problem.
1st read one more time formats of audio and video disks ,i mean codec what ur device officially read.(like wma,mp3,mp4,theora.. etc)
2nd then if device can not read disk for which ur sure that are recorded with supported codec or to say in supported format, then leans can be dirty or something is stucked inside, anyway lead u to open and clean laser reading lens inside, with any method.
3rd if disk are recorded in format and codec what that particular device can read, and read even just one disk, then lens are not point to look, then disks can be scrached, damaged or simply no more readable..what can be double checked on some other device.
4th if urs disks are for sure in non-supported format then easy and for free u can convert them in supported format(supported codec) on some computer with most of audio and video converter software, and then record them again, even some software can mannage to read and then record(burn) disks which are not readable any more to normal cd&dvd&bd players.
5th its good to know that is legal and good way to have backup copy of audio and video collection,if what is in use get damaged with tear and wear,or else..so favorite things can be burned or else reused again.

I have a brookstone brand record player with the ability to convert records to mp3/wma files via a sd slot and a usb slot. Every time I plug in an empty flash drive/ usb toward an external hard drive, or...

Hi,
External drives require to be formatted before use on somewhere else..
Pls "format" it on your Pc and than try again....
Sometimes proper formatting is possible on the equipment itself (like Digital Cameras )
I was not able to get into your units detailed specs to see if such feature is existed..
if its exist ,you must access thru "set up menu"
Secondly ,if the display recognizes the HD than your Record player will create its own Files/ folders..try to record something even it reads "no file" and than plug it into your PC to see what has been recorded..
Hope this helps!
Take care and please

Akai recording problem

You might have a bad cable to the recorder (try swapping the right and left connections and see if the problem moves to the other channel), dirty tape heads (use a cotton swab and head cleaner or isopropyl alcohol to clean them), or a circuit problem inside the recorder. Hope this gets you started!

I have an 80 GB hard drive to replace the one that died in my DPS16. Can you give ne intructions on how to format/partition and load the OS back on? Thanks.

Simply remove the old drive and install the new one. The OS for the Akai DPS16 is kept on the motherboard. Once installed, format the disk and it will automatically partition. My new 80GB drive partitioned into 7 @11GB each. Leave the jumper at CS (cable select).

How do I connect an AKAI xr20 to a Tascam DP-01fx/cd? I am unable to get the multitrack to record the drum machine.

first you have to check the output terminal of the AKA and the input of the tascam. If they have the same feature, you can buy the connector on a store but if they are not of the same feature maybe you can buy a connector for each of those and find an adapter to establish a connection to for it.

P.S. If this helps please rate me. Thanks.

Philips cdr 606 Recorder. I keep geting a message saying Reading and the Insert disk, after I have inserted a disk.. Tried different disks, also a lens cleaner but keep getting the same message.. can...

The problem of reading, insert disk, is that the mechanism of the player ....the problem is not on the lens its in your player mechanism. I suggest you that, in the mechanism which the lens are moving if u see a roller that is the problem and its already in dirt and dust..u better clean that by using a lighter fluid and then take the old grease change it with new one with good quality..after that it will be okay.

Akai s6000 sampler unused for most its life. Just when we need it it fails on the third full day. On power up the display is blank and all led buttong thats 8 under the screen stay fully lit. Power supply...

Same problem with an Akai S5000.
Display gets darker because power supply outputs for the mainboard starts falling after start up.
Don't know if its the mainboard is causing the problem or is a problem of the power supply itself.
A S5000 service manual will be helpful.
Best regards
