You need to make sure the unit's voltage requirement matches what it is being fed to it and that the power connections are correct. You are describing a dead-short situation and will likely have a serious fire condition if you continue to attempt operation. If you are not sure, please consult an experienced electrician to help sort out your wiring. Good luck!

If it's the circuit breaker in your house or apartment that's blowing, then either you are overloading the circuit, or you have a bad breaker. Check to see what other devices might be plugged into that circuit, and move as many of them as possible to a different circuit.

My Indesit IDL40 dishwasher, loud bang with slight burning smell but still working?

Any burning smell is not good. Indicates that something in there is too hot and perhaps melting something. Could even catch fire......

Could very well be that whatever is responsible for the noise can be causing the problemo.

Bosh SHY56A Dishwasher - Loud Pop and Smoke While

Hey Matt,
Dishwashers are not that complicated.. Turn off the breaker, pull the machine out - away from the wall..(there will/should be at lest two screws in the top edge holding it to the counter.. remove them first.. then pull it out until you can turn off the water supply.. When you are able to completely remove the washer, you should be able (possibly)to see what happened.. Check to see if the washer arm (inside the washer) will turn, if not.. replace the motor.., check to see if the pump belt will turn?.. it could be the pump drive motor or the pump its self..(remove the belt), then see if the motor will turn, check to see if the pump will turn.
.. White smoke makes me think that the belt was turning and the pump NOT turning..that will cause the belt to smoke.. and smell like burning rubber..If the pump will not turn. you have found t he problem... Also ..Check to make sure there is not a knife or some other object lodged in the drain or pump
NOW -- With all this.. Sometimes REPLACING the machine is actually cheaper than repairing the old one!!! Your wife deserves a NEW one!!

It's not the breaker. You have a short circuit. Leave that breaker off and call an electrician asap.

Hi, last night my smeg dishwasher cut after 20mins. There was a lot of smoke and a strong burning smell. We have taken off the front panels, however there is no sign of any burnt out wires. Do you have any...

Many times if the wiring becomes loose in the connection box itself (where the house
wiring connects to the machine itself). The wire nuts will burn out and create
quite a smell. I have seen this numerous times where aluminum wiring was
connected to dishwashers. (Note, make sure breakers are off to the circuit before
removing the cover to inspect as the leads may be in contact with the metal cover)
If this is not the problem, I would recommend having a licensed electrician over.

The breaker itself does not seem to trip completely. The power will go off to the lights and outlets on the circuit for the breaker. When attempting to reset, the breaker is not in off position, but when...

It is a clear case of metal contacts getting heated/melted/burn out due to overload/short-circuit inside. Please get the circuit breakers replaced with a new one to avoid fire hazard.

Smeg oven not working. only clock and thermostat light working

It sounds like you have either one of the following things that need attention. First, turn off both breakers to the oven and then back on. Next check the wiring from the receptacle to the back of the oven. Next, check your internal fuses. Most ovens have them. Last, check the wiring to the elements and control switches. Somewhere you have a wire burned off the terminals or control switch. That smell you referred to is probably one of the wires that may be burned.
