Light came back on in older 18cu.ft. Frigidaire (freezer on top) refrigerator after lightening storm tripped a GFI plug on the circuit but no cooling or freezing No sound of motor running.

As the light works the supply is obviously ok.

It would seem to be time to find the reset button if there is one and try pushing that. If no reset button or it doesn't work the circuit and supply will need tracing through with a meter and/or a test lamp in order to discover the fault.

Why does freezer keep cold and not bottom on a frt16crh

Maybe too much food jammed in to allow cold air to get to the bottom.

Refrigerater stopped working just a clicking noise from the circut board is there a rset button anywhere

unfortunately there is no reset button. you can try disconnecting power for a few minutes and plugging it back in to reset the circuit board. most likely you have a bad relay on the control board. you didnt list a model number for your refrig so i could get you a part number for you. I use sears.com in their parts section to look up part numbers then google the part number to find the best price.
the control board is plug and play and any one that can use a screw driver should be able to replace the part with no problems. thx peyton

The ice maker has stopped working. The light inside is flashing red. I checked the manual and nothing is stated about the red light flashing in the troubleshooting section. I've checked the lines and...

this sounds like a control board circuit problem..but first remove perishables and defrost freezer ..turn off or un plug..leave refr door closed..freezer door open..if you have lots of water while defrosting you almost cirtainly have froozen the evap coils solid..freezer cannot work like this..after defrost..plug in and see if temperature returns to normal..if it does it won't last indefinately..your probably have a bad defrost timer and/or evap heater gone bad

Not sure how the problem resolved - but it appeared to reset of its own accord. Now operating satisfactorally.

Frigidaire model FRT16CRH. Top freezer not getting cold. Blows cool air. Everything that was frozen is now melted. Bottom part of refridgerator is fine.

Your refrigerator has a defrost timer and it may not be going into defrost every 8 to 10 hours. I was not able to get a picture for you of the location, but look inside the fresh food compartment and inside the teperature control panel should have a hole with sometimes a plastic plug stuck in it. If not there it will be under the kick plate at bottom of fridge. Take a flat head screwdriver and slowly turn to the right until refrigerator stops running. After about 30 minutes if it does not restart, star by again turning slowly clockwise until it starts. Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Refridge stopped working after a power surge

First, check to see if the light comes on or if there is any fan, motor, or other sound coming from the appliance? If so, the refrigerator isn't really completely stopped--go to the specific problem you are having. If not, try adjusting the thermostat to a colder setting. If that doesn't work, read on.

Second, check to see if there is power getting to the refrigerator. To do that, plug a lamp or other device into the same outlet the refrigerator is plugged into. If there's no power, check the fuses or circuit breakers. If the fuses or breakers aren't the problem, contact a qualified electrician to restore power to the outlet.

If there is power to the appliance but it still seems to be stopped, there may be a problem in one or more of these:

  • Wiring

  • Thermostat

  • Defrost timer

  • Compressor

  • Overload and/or relay
