Keep your shooting distance inside of 2ft to 3ft, depending on
visibility and ambient light.
If you are using only one light, considering adding another light
(dual lights) or/and external flash accessory. The ideal
set-up is a combination of a light plus flash.
Consider purchasing the SeaLife Wide Angle Lens (SL975). The
fisheye lens allows you to get closer to the subject and fit more

For SeaLife camera with external light accessory (No external flash):

My 580ex ii cannot change back to Auto zoom its stuck at 14mm

If removing the batteries overnight doesn't allow it to reset, try mounting the flash on your camera, turn both on and reset your camera to factory default settings through your camera menu settings.

How do I turn the flash on

Since you didn't provide brand and model info - only generic help can be given.

Most cameras will automatically turn the flash on when conditions are too dark for a successful exposure. Many times, the camera will not allow you to take the picture if the flash can't be turned on. You'll have to go through the menu settings of the camera to find a Flash Setting. Popular choices are often Always Flash, Never Flash, Red Eye Reduction and Automatic Flash. It sounds as if the setting was changed to Never Flash - or the flash bulb itself has failed.

If you have problems still - provide the manufacturer and model camera you're using and I'll see if I can find out how to do it for you. Good luck!

Screen says 'can not change flash settings'

if you need a manual go here
http://www.retrevo.com/search?q=Sony+DSC-H9&rt=oa&modelid=1075104
on page 50 is has a chart showing when the flash is used, or not available. P S A M all make it available, in Scene, or the one with the mini camera, it is not adjustable. If it will not work in PSA or M then it will need to have a tech look at it, Please try changing modes first and let us know if this was your problem.

My DSC-T100 won't allow any changes to the flash setting.

The flash settings on the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T100 are Auto, Forced Flash, Slow Syncro and No Flash, if it is not giving you a flash and wont allow you to change the setting you might have to talk to sony or the store you bought the camera from. One long shot would be that depending on what other features you are using on the camera, i could be set up to not allow you to change the flash settings in that "mode". Sorry if this is useless, but good luck and if all else fails use sony support! :)

Flash problems

As you haven't said which shooting mode the problem occurs under (e.g. Auto, Scene etc) I can only suggest that you try different shooting modes to gain access to changing the Flash settings. Hope this helps.

Flash

I assume you have a digimax D53 as this is where your question is posted. On the top of the camera is two black buttons and the silver button which is the shutter release. One of the black buttons, the one closest to the silver button, is marked with an "M". This button can be pressed while the camera is on and it will allow you to change the settings for flash and for exposure. Suggest that you change it to auto as this is all around the best setting for snapshot type photographs.

Flash for Coolpix L6 Digital

You can try to reset all of the internal settings. This has worked for me with a digital camera.
It would be good here to know what kind of camera we are working with.

Make sure you do not have any of the settings in the camera set to turn off the flash...for instance setting it at mountains or most any outside setting may not allow the flash to work. Some cameras will allow you to override the setting internally.
If the flash does not work at all, then repairs will be needed.
