yes mines does the same and everyone keeps saying check the ground upgrade to the big three and so on personally i think this series and there new amps are just junk. Mines been in protect since i got it two years ago, once inawhile would turn off with big bass drop and now the amp doesnt really work in master switch but works on the slave i just think the amp was built poorly so, my advice get it bench tested before you do any new upgrades

My amp keeps going into some safe mode and red light blinks and stops base to my sub. I have it hooked up to 1 15.4 Orion HCCA.

The "safe mode" on your amp usually kicks in for two reasons - the ohm load on the sub is too low for the amp (presenting a "short" to the amp), or it's going into thermal protection because the amp is too hot. From your description, it sounds like there's a short in the wire, the sub's ohm load is too low, or the sub is partially blown.

If you have another sub or speaker, connect it to the amp's output and see if the amp still goes into protection mode. If the amp goes into protection with a known-good speaker, then there may be something wrong with the amp's power supplies. If the amp works properly with another speaker or sub, then I would check the sub that's causing it to short out.

You may also want to check whether or not the amp is over heating by just touching the amp when it goes into protection. If it's just warm, that should be ok - if it's hot, then it might be working too hard. In this case, you may need to check the input voltage (12-14VDC) and the size of the power and ground cables. If your ground isn't properly connected, it can cause weird problems like over heating, shorts, erratic behavior, etc...

Ihave an orion 6000 what is the power rating of

Hello,
I am sure you have misread the number on the amp. Look again you should see 600D. here is the link to the PDF on your Amp. http://www.directed.com/guides/manuals/og/orion/G47395.400.405.410_11-04.pdf

I hope this helps if not I will try to down load it for you and post it directly to the reply.

I have a orion hcca-d1200 and it keeps shutting off and blinking protect light and the esp indicator light. what could be wrong with it?

Possibly a shorted output transistor. If it was the power supply you would be blowing fuses, which I assume you aren't.

Problem w/ Orion HCCA - D5000 Amplifier

Try checking the wiring configuration from your sub to the amp, if the resistance is too low it can cause to go into protection mode or the amp is damaged and you will have to get it service

Amplifier does not work

remove the speaker wires and re-test. If the amplifier powers on, without fault, you know the sub(s) and/or wiring are the culprit. If the power and ground are ok, take the amplifier in for service. The indicators are there to let you know of a problem. If it is an internal one, a certified tech will be required.
