Question about Toshiba DVR610 DVD Recorder/VCR
DVD/VCR worked fine last night. Woke up this morning and had a BLUE SCREEN on the tv. The VCR works fine on playback on Video 2, however I now can't record at all. TV picture from tuner doesn't show on Video 2, only video playback. Also, the SET UP commands won't show up on the screen. I believe a remote control got a button accidentally pushed and something programmed wrong, but can't figure it out. Did the whole customer support call with Toshiba - no help at all. I believe it's a setting issue attached to the remote, but can't figure it out. All connections are secure and correct.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I contacted Toshiba and they said to turn unplug the TV for at least a minute, if that didn't reset it, then they gave me a service to contact. So I unplugged the TV when I was going to be gone all day, and tried it when I got home, no change at all. I had a repairman come by and he said the problem were the buttons on the TV that had to be replaced. He quoted me $240/labor and $5 for each button to replace (7), considering I only paid about $500 for the TV in December of 2004, I decided to just get a new tv with a warranty. I ended up getting the LG LCD Tv.

You have an old tv so the best problems are bad capacitors and bad grounds. Have someone pull the board and search for high voltage caps [160volts or 250 volts] with 1 to 4.7 microfarads. Should be two or maybe three and check all grounds. If the 4 amp fuse is good than the above will save your TV.
